Summer Transfer Window 2017

They just asked Tielemans if he has signed with AS Monaco. (It was reported earlier today that he had signed with AS Monaco for 25 mil. €)

He said he hasn't signed anywhere but has multiple offers.

It's supposed to be between Monaco, Atlético Madrid, Juve, Lyon, Chelsea, PSG and Everton.

Surely has to be between us and Monaco?

Any further news on dendoncker?

He will be tried, and I hope he does brilliantly, but we still only have one actual RB till Coleman returns and who knows how good Coleman will be when he does? I don't like this "let's shove a young centre half at RB". We all saw against Swansea how ineffective Holgate is going forwards. What happens if Kenny gets injured?
I think this is why we should be going for a natural winger rather than another FB. We are rather dire there with only Bolasie (who might be crocked forever) having showed any effectiveness. If we get one, Holgate won't really be a liability anymore. We must have one or the other

For me, If we sign a young RB that blocks Kenny long term...an experienced player will be also blocking Kenny when coleman is back...

RB: Kenny / Holgate / Coleman
RCB: Jags
LCB: Williams
LB: Baines / Galloway

I'd be in for Koulibaly, Gimenez, Sanchez, VVD (I've probably forgotten someone). I'd be matching asking prices now and then talking with all 4 of them and saying the first two to agree join with what they want (within our budgets).

Then I'd go and get Sessegnon from Fulham and he and Galloway can push and rotate with Baines.

OUT: Pennington, Mori,Garbutt

Think you're looking at a class above ourselves with those 3 I'm afraid. I know we like to think we're a big club with lots of money but no sane footballer player is dropping from a CL team to ourselves yet just for money or in VVD's case choosing us over a CL team. We're just not ready yet to compete for these sorts of players.

I really don't want us to chase after these lot all summer in the friendzone before realising it's August and we have Jags and Williams starting. Let's take recruitment step-by-step. Once we - hopefully - break the Top 4 then we can go for these. And whilst you might think "but that could be years off, they'll be elsewhere by then" you have to remember that in 3-4 years there'll be another batch of players just like the ones you want. Football is cyclical after all.

Remember it's also the World Cup next year and moves can sometimes not work out and ruin someone's chance of making a squad.

I don't know, Monaco would suit his style of play the best, but who knows the team he'll choose.

No a couple of days ago you just had the Everton wants to push through the transfer media articles. The problem with Dendocnker is that, unlike Youri, he doesn't do of lot of appearances before the media so you'll read less on him.

RK has already said that he does not want a very large squad, rightly so, he does not want to have to deal with players who are unhappy because they are not being played... the very reason we were able to sign Schneiderlin.

The consequence of this is that players need to be flexile and be able to at least cover a couple of positions other than their favourite.

When considering the players we sign this summer, this must be borne in mind e.g a right sided central defender than can fill in at right back, the same on the other side.
A striker that can play up front but can also play wide , a midfielder that is versatile enough to play different roles depending on what is required.

Strangely.... Rooney would be a great fit from that point of view....if he still is good enough to play in the premiership of course ?
He has played up front, out wide in midfield and knows all of these roles well.

I'd argue that's not a problem but a huge plus.

I think Sanchez will surprise you, see him against utd...hes top notch. I think we aim high and get 2 centre backs.

Sessegnon would get games for us, he wouldn't anywhere else....

Your underating sessegnon mate, in both Klopp and Guardiolas system he'd get games.

Because he doesn't seem to have much quality....its weird but to me he does remind me of Naismith.

I know that's not the 'thinking mans' view but there you go....

He's a knack for scoring goals, like Naismith...but that's in Holland and to be he doesn't do much else other than show good leadership

He definitely has quality Zat.

His movement is top-notch but honestly that's where any comparisons to Naismith have to stop.

He's class on the ball, tough in the tackle and links the play brilliantly. Apart from Davies, none of our midfielders offer any support from deep. That needs to change.

CB's: Williams (keep), RFM (keep), Jags (sell), Holgate (keep and purely at CB next season), Galloway (undecided) - Need to add 2 more that will be first choice with Williams, RFM and Holgate rotating out.

LB's: Baines (keep), Garbutt (evaluate pre-season) - Need a LB that will either push Baines to play better or just flat out replace him straight away.

RB's: Coleman (keep), Kenny (keep) - Kenny looked okay but has only played ~90 mins of PL football so we can't have solely him till whenever Coleman returns and we don't yet know how he'll return. Need a RB in that's equal or better than Seamus to start.

Players we've been linked with I like and seem attainable: Keane, Gibson, Tierney, Trippier, Tete, Sanchez (last summer), Robertson (undecided).

Dreamland? Throw a pot of gold at Benjamin Mendy. I also really rate Paul Baysse but he's injury prone.

You forgot Koubailly
Why sell Jags for peanuts when you could get 20 m for Funes
Both will only be back up.
Either it's 2 new CB. Or one new one and Williams.
Pennington is also highly rated
That would give you 2 new CB
And Jags Williams Holgate and Pennington as back up

Not a snowballs chance in hell on Mendy
Too many CL clubs interested

100% perfect and would push him for his place as well....
Gueye / Davies will end up competing as well I think
Then Klaassen and another like a Tielemans to compete for the 3rd spot

That's an ideal central midfield in terms of numbers and types....

We won't sign three players who are all natural central players mate.

We have way too many needs in other areas.

Dendoncker and Klassen make perfect sense because the combined fee for both of around 30-35m will be paid for by McCarthy and Cleverley being sold almost entirely.

You will probably find we will try to do that in other areas also, sell and replace using those funds for higher overall quality.

Deulofeu will be sold for another wide/forward player - maybe Ztge Malaga lad, maybe Barkley for a creative player like sigurdsson for example.

And cb and keeper will see us spend what money Koeman is given.

Only Lukaku leaving alters that strategy IMO. Then it will be simply mental as we will need to throw all that at finding 2-3 strikers hoping one works out
