without Howards 3 big saves we would have walked out with 0 points... I think the stick on Howard is a bit harsh... We were beat by an unfortunate own goal.. played well imho though..

My issue is twice taking the lead and twice getting pegged back by an average Villa side. All the top teams have that killer instinct which we terribly lack, when we put ourselves in a position to qualify for Europe through some excellent results we [Poor language removed] it when it matters, and [Poor language removed] it bad.

We do, but for me, not today.

We went there, without key players - with Yakubu upfront which at the moment is like playing with ten men - and put in a performance deserving of a win.

well it was a good game , but thats our season over even if we won all our remaining games.

cahill + baines , both very good and our 2 best performers.
yak , again ... very little skill, control, movement or vision .you name it , he lacked it again.

pienaar , had a good game but i hold him to blame for the second goal. really poor awareness and strength to lose the ball in a good position which then led to villa's counter.

people may say we lost out this season due to injuries before xmas.
i say that it was a awful start but we pulled ourselves back into the race during donovans stay.
then when we did have an almost full squad (minus fellaini) we blew it. liverpool ,spurs ,birmingham wolves ,west ham and now villa , they are the results that made or broke our season in the end.

its been bitter sweet pill to swallow since xmas.some great wins and some bad draws.

We only win games when we have either one of Arteta and Fellaini. We lack composure without them.

I wish i could be bothered to say what i really think of you and your opinions, but you will have to make do with this.......Just fu*k off

Yeah well that is beautiful. But, Heitinga gets crocked off injured. Pienaar gets dropped and goes off for medical attention. Who did we hit? young dived all night to get yellow cards and freekicks against us, did he get fouled properly even once?

Horne, Parkinson, Carsley, Reid, all knew how to throw a tackle in, who have we now? We just fart around like arsenal and expect our screams to win us freekicks. Sorry, not good enough. Time to fight or as you put it fu*k off.
Team spirit my ass, too many players with eyes on the WC and moves elsewhere. Lets see some bottle here, some desire and responsibility. instead we see them rolling over week after week putting average shift in after average shift.

You can be happy with less. I wont be.

Like I say, those other game are indefenceable....this one, I think its down to luck. An own goal did it against a full strength Villa side.

3 key player out for this game - Heit (2nd half), Arteta and Fellaini - and we ended up the better side away from home and should've won it.

I agree though...we had a Fanny Torres or "that" player, the game would be wrapped up big time.

I still think Landon would've won us that game. Shoulda woulda coulda I know...but its that pace and cutting edge missing in these games when 2 goals could easily be 3 and the game is put to bed.

Im not totally disappointed with this. We were the better side and were unlucky against a one of the better sides in the league.

Arsenal away aswell.

The fight was there tonight. The display was very good. Yes we drew a game we should have won, but to suggest there was no fight or passion is a pathetic argument.

This.

Got done by an effin own goal, not a well worked move or a screamer from 20 yards. A cross from a snide who shouldnt be on the pitch and it bounced off Jags head and goes in on the 92nd minute.

It was an organised and tactically well planned away match when, minus a few chances in the 1st half, we limited them to nothing and had great chances ourselves.

Sucker punch is all it is.

2 games where we threw away the lead... Absolute rubbish...

Don't forget Arsenal....

Where is the bruiser? the reducer? the protecter? Young volleys Pienaar and gets off scott free. Not a side (us) I can respect. Cowards!!!! for shame.

Reid never stopped fighting, horne and parkinson never layed down, ferguson kept fighting off the pitch, den hauwe, all of them betrayed by this weak coward display of white flag waving.

Same problem all season, a touch of the screaming arsenals. Disgusting!!!

God what a load of bullsh*t. What, we're supposed to go round lamping everyone, and if we're not we're soft? Pathetic.

[Poor language removed] ourselves. We [Poor language removed] ourselves again.

Villa aren't all that.

No we didn't. Villa did f all all second half, and only got a point because we didn't make the most of a couple good chances, and a jammy OG.

The players wanted them too, only explanation, after Pienaar and Heit get sidelined who did we dump on the deck? No one.

No bottle. The disease that has disabled us all season.

Cowardly pathetic, take it and say thanks attitude that is a cancer eating our club. Time to sort it.

You should sort yourself out. Cringeworthy.

Howard should have gotten the own goal, im sorry - he is just poor and average!

* Find your own scapegoat!

I hope this is a joke.

So who do we blame? Young? Jagielka? Howard?

No - I'm afraid you have to be clinical and ruthless and in the last 3 games we have not displayed these qualities, hence why we've come out with 3 thoroughly disappointing draws as opposed to the 3 wins we should have come out with, really.

I'm afraid our season's over, lads.

This. Even tho considering the start I'm not too disappointed. We gave ourselves a chance to exceed espectations, but are gonna drop short.

Happens too often mate, not just like that but underwhelming performances against the likes of Wolves & West Ham and letting Birmingham back into it despite being two up.

All the players go on about how ace we'll be next season but we had a chance to wrap that up on the Rodwell break and the Neville chance and we [Poor language removed] it, we [Poor language removed] it at the important times, like in Europe every year too.

You mean Howard who made 2 superb saves in the 1st half to keep us in the game? Yak who held the ball up well as we kept shape and went 1 up? Or Pienaar who was the creative force and got a kicking all game, will probably be rocking an injury or two?

This.

forum lag robbed me of the initial post.
This side could not win against a squad of girl guides.

For shame. No fight. No bottle. No spirit. No will to win. No sense of justice.

Enjoy the WC and the transfers guys, as you cannot be bothered fighting it out for everton, everton are better off without you. Adios.

You're absolutely right. They showed none of that when they scored two minutes after the first equaliser.

It doesnt matter if he makes 20 good saves mate, if he fumbles once its game over, i dont care what anyone says he should have had that around the post basic stuff!

Ok, obviously you weren't. You really don't have a clue do you?

This. All you knee-jerkers should be ashamed. Go and a breather, smoke a joint, whatever it is you need to do, and come back when you can actually think straight and post something that isnt wall-to-wall BS.

Carew was offside and interfering for the second aswell it seems....

Villa put us under for about the first ten minutes, but we controlled the game after that. It was very much like the City game, although not quite so desperate. I felt pretty confident that we'd nick a second and see the game out.

From an attacking point of view we two often chose the wrong ball. When Villa went to three at the back in particular there were atleast three occasions where we had a man in acres of space if he'd been spotted.

Defensively, we weren't too bad. Bainesy was racing out to close the winger down early, which is something that I often criticise him for not doing enough. Maybe neither Jagielka or Howard are commanding the penalty area as well as they can do just now. I've said before that I think Howard is having a subdued season by his standards- most likely from playing nonstop for the last three years. With Jags, he will still be getting his confidence and sharpness back after the injury.

Where does this leave us? It was always going to be tough gaining ground on Villa with so few games remaining. I think the players are focussed on ending the season on a high. The seem to be enjoying their football and wanting to take on all comers. Blackburn away will be a tight, physical encounter. I think that Fulham will come to Goodison to defend. The trip to the potteries will be another bruiser. The final game of the season, Portsmouth at home, you'd imagine that they'd be looking to save themselves for the cup final, so we might be able to sign off with a few goals there. Other than that, I predict atleast one more draw, if not two.
