well it was a good game , but thats our season over even if we won all our remaining games.

cahill + baines , both very good and our 2 best performers.
yak , again ... very little skill, control, movement or vision .you name it , he lacked it again.

pienaar , had a good game but i hold him to blame for the second goal. really poor awareness and strength to lose the ball in a good position which then led to villa's counter.

people may say we lost out this season due to injuries before xmas.
i say that it was a awful start but we pulled ourselves back into the race during donovans stay.
then when we did have an almost full squad (minus fellaini) we blew it. liverpool ,spurs ,birmingham wolves ,west ham and now villa , they are the results that made or broke our season in the end.

its been bitter sweet pill to swallow since xmas.some great wins and some bad draws.

But it didn't happen.

Some poor performances there. Howard, Yakubu in particular. not one of Pienaar's best games either.

It's poor that we have let it happen so many times.

You mean Howard who made 2 superb saves in the 1st half to keep us in the game? Yak who held the ball up well as we kept shape and went 1 up? Or Pienaar who was the creative force and got a kicking all game, will probably be rocking an injury or two?

Howard 7- Made some decent saves early on. A couple of mistakes, but generally pretty solid.
Neville 7- Got forward well. Played some neat football. It would have been magic if he'd scored.
Baines 7- Did nothing wrong. Some very good dead balls.
Jagielka 6- Ended up trying to mark two players for their first goal and was unfortunate with the oggie.
Distin 7- Covered for his team mates well. A bit more decisive on the ball.
Heitinga 6- Seemed to get overrun by the Villa midfield. Didn't look like he was busting a gut to close the ball.
Pienaar 7- His usual effervescent self.
Osman 6- Failed to spot Rodwell wide open. Not as much impact as you would like.
Cahill 8- Worked hard and deserved his two goals.
Yakubu 5- The only memorable thing he did was mis-control a throw in back in to touch. There wasn't much running in him.
Bily 6- Played in his preferred position on the left, but didn't get on the ball enough or impose himself.

Subs
Rodwell 7- Made a couple of excellent runs from midfield and offered a better defensive shield than Heitinga.
Saha 6- Held the ball up quite well, but too greedy when Bily and Rodwell were in better scoring positions.
Yobo 5- Little time to make an impression.

The worst bit about it is we've gone there without Fellaini and Arteta (and Heitinga for half the game), showed we're a superior team on their own patch and somehow not won. Gutted, how haven't we got more points?

forum lag robbed me of the initial post.
This side could not win against a squad of girl guides.

For shame. No fight. No bottle. No spirit. No will to win. No sense of justice.

Enjoy the WC and the transfers guys, as you cannot be bothered fighting it out for everton, everton are better off without you. Adios.

It doesnt matter if he makes 20 good saves mate, if he fumbles once its game over, i dont care what anyone says he should have had that around the post basic stuff!

I would've argue about the Brum, Wolves and West Ham games....but tonight we played a better side than them, without Arteta and Heitinga for the 2nd half and still could've got all 3 points if Jags never got his head to the ball at the end because they had nothing.

Young better get a ban. And I mean GET A BAN!

My issue is twice taking the lead and twice getting pegged back by an average Villa side. All the top teams have that killer instinct which we terribly lack, when we put ourselves in a position to qualify for Europe through some excellent results we [Poor language removed] it when it matters, and [Poor language removed] it bad.

Way too many of "these games".

Solid teams don't drop these games - OG, bad bounce or not. They find a way.

I blame that dirty R/S greek for all of this. With Fellaini in the lineup, teams can't build through the middle and Heitinga gets to play the CB crusher.

Hereby vow to never drink Ouzo again or touch anything wrapped in phyllo dough.

I wish i could be bothered to say what i really think of you and your opinions, but you will have to make do with this.......Just fu*k off

Hate to say it, but I think we miss Donovan. Badly.

He gave us something, that we are lacking at the moment. In a game as open as that, he would have had a field day.

Need a proper right winger.

It was because of him we basically lost Pienaar mobility, he was clearly uncomfortable after that kick from Ashley Young, man Villa are pretty dirty in this match, taking out Heitinga & Pienaar!

Damn right about the ban, three match suspension that is what I expect, without Ashley Young they are no where near as good and they would surely drop points and hopfully enough for us to over take them!
