It looks to me more like Usmanov is using the only thing at his disposal to undermine, rock the boat or influence Kroenke, and that is from the outside, through the media, and ultimately the fan base. However, Kroenke is in such a strong position and appears unmoved by media talk or fan pressure, that nothing at boardroom level is likely to change.
The real question is then, given it is such a stalemate, is Usmanov's love affair with Arsenal on the wane, or will he be a fan to the end and stick it out?
If I were a huge shareholder at Everton, the team I love, and the board had shut me out, would I give up on them and go throw my support at some other club? I think not. I believe I would do all I could to discredit and drive out the idiots who were blocking me from having a say in my club. But then, I was born and raised a blue. Do Usmanov's feelings run as deep for Arsenal as mine do for Everton, or is his loyalty driven more by money, power and ego? If it is the latter, then we should absolutely expect him to have plans in place to invest even more in Everton, and ultimately somehow or other, have a major holding and influence. I do not think we can write this off just yet.
On a side note, there are a lot of Chinese billionaire football fans in the world now, more than ever, and don't forget, Usmanov is not the only Russian billionaire fish in the sea.
