Sir Landon Of Donovan

Feck Moyes im waiting for LCAB confirmation!

This.

The minute LCAB turns up and says "he's staying the season lids" and gets a wall of middle aged men creaming over his word...I'll be happy.

He better stay. I love him...ropey miss last weekend and everything.

Come on, really? That's rather short-sighted. If Moyes sacked every player that whiffed on a ball, you would have zero players.

This is a positive development; hopefully Landon can stay. I enjoy watching him play at Everton.

I enjoy watching him play at Everton too. Wish he'd play there forever. Then he couldn't be scoring on my team, Toronto FC. (Or yours, even.)

But look, forget his latest miss; did you see his flub in the ManU game? That was epic, that was Chad Barretesque. (I sincerely believe that even Chad would've buried that.) Now it's no surprise to me that you're all gung-ho for the American boys . . . but I have to warn you that Landon's stay in the Premiership will be nasty, brutish and short if he shits his leotards every time he finds himself face-to-face with a ripsnortin Premiership caliber 'keeper, I don't care how fast he can sprint.

I thought he played very well versus Man U.... And Chelsea, for that matter.

You're not going to win every battle, every time. I think his loan spell has shown that he can play in this league. Remember, this loan was an acclimation to the EPL for him. We almost forget that when we are super-critical of his few whiffs.

He'll only improve with more time, and remember he really needs a chance to build better chemistry and familiarity with the rest of the team - who've been playing together much longer. Dempsey didn't get started this fast at Fulham ;)

Agreed on being happy to not have to face him in the MLS though. :D

Anyone - What is LCAB?

A poster on here called Little Curly Allan Ball.

Basically, when he says something in terms of transfers, injuries and general goings on at the club....he has sources and hasnt been wrong....

He's like a demi-god to some. Legend to others.

If people want to pick apart Landon's performances from match to match, I'd be happy to offer up some other Everton players who haven't quite had the run he's had over that time.

Yeah, he missed a sitter. Big deal.

But he's PROVEN that he can play in England AND be successful.

Some say. Neil Armstrong was not the first man on the moon, LCAB was instead.

Oh dear:

Everton are likely to be thwarted in their bid to extend the loan spell of Landon Donovan at Goodison Park

The United States captain has made a huge impact since joining the Merseyside club on a short-term deal in January, and Everton manager David Moyes revealed on Friday that he had explored the possibility of a renewed loan deal.
Donovan is due to return to parent club Los Angeles Galaxy, where he recently signed a new contract, to prepare for the new Major League Soccer season later this month.

Moyes has previously stated any extension to the 10-week loan would be unlikely, and Galaxy coach Bruce Arena underlined that position this evening.

"We're not interested," Arena said in quotes reported on the official Major League Soccer website.

"Landon will be back here March 15. We're being consistent with everything we've said all along."

That is not the end of the matter, though, with Arena revealing Everton's bid to retain Donovan may yet succeed as a result of threatened industrial action in the MLS.

The American league is currently in talks with its players' union regarding a new labour agreement but, with doubts persisting over the progress of those discussions, there is a chance the start of the new season could be delayed.

The Galaxy are due to begin the new campaign against New England on March 27, but that may be put on hold if no deal is reached, with fresh talks planned for next week.

"Obviously the collective bargaining could change that," Arena said.

"If we didn't have a league going on, we would certainly entertain the idea of allowing Landon to stay there. If we have a league, Landon's going to be playing for the Galaxy."

Donovan's move to Everton, which has coincided with an upturn in the team's form, has benefited both club and player.

The 27-year-old has sharpened his game in the Barclays Premier League in a World Cup year while Moyes has found him a good quality short-term solution to some of his squad's injury problems.

The midfielder has added an extra dimension on the right side of Everton's attack and Moyes views the move as a complete success.
The only low point was a bad miss from in front of goal in last week's defeat at Tottenham.

Moyes said: "In the main he has done a really good job for us. It is very rare you can bring in someone in January on loan who can make a real difference to you, but Landon has.

"He came in when the team was on the up, so that has suited him, but we cannot deny he has done well.

"Landon had to be thrown straight in so we had to find out very quickly if he could do a job or not. But I think his manager at LA Galaxy would say the best World Cup preparation for him would be to start in their team.

"They will be keen to get him back so we will have to be respectful of their wishes. If we can keep him it would be nice, but if not I totally understand it."

If no new agreement is forthcoming, Sunday's clash with struggling Hull will be Donovan's last at Goodison Park.

Moyes is hoping he can be joined in the team by midfield talisman Tim Cahill, who is battling to overcome a calf injury.

The Australian was initially ruled out for up to three weeks after limping out of the first leg of the Europa League tie against Sporting Lisbon 17 days ago.

"He is getting closer," Moyes said. "He has not trained yet but there is a chance he might train tomorrow. If he does, that would give him a chance."

Top scorer Louis Saha, however, is still missing with the hamstring injury that kept him out of the trip to Tottenham.

Phil Jagielka, recently returned from a long-term knee injury, could
be doubtful with a thigh strain, as could Leon Osman with a foot problem.

Moyes added: "We hope to have roughly the same players we had last week. In the main, I hope the majority of them will make it."
All of Everton's international players returned from midweek duty unscathed and Moyes was particularly pleased to see left-back Leighton Baines make his England debut on Wednesday.

The Scot said: "He has deserved it, he has played consistently well for Everton. It took him a little while to get started in the side but he was patient and got through, and is now showing his worth."

LA Galaxy likely to thwart Everton's attempts to keep Landon Donovan at Goodison - Telegraph

That's not good. Well, here's to the MLS player's union: strike for the toffees, please!

That's not good. Well, here's to the MLS player's union: strike for the toffees, please!

First when was this statement issued, or worded? Before the non strike? This really sounds like old news to me.

Don't you see that the statement that Moyes made today, as posturing? Why would Moyes come out with such a statement today, if talks were not ongoing? If it looked bad, then there probably would not have been a statement. It is apparant that Donovan wants to stay, and Moyes is interested. You think that neither have no sway in this argument?

I do not think that the players non strike, or real strike, had much to do with this. I think, that there have been long on going talks, and that they have only recently become public. I think that they have become more positive, and that is why the Moyes statement came out today. If we had heard nothing so far....then LD was going back, but now about a week out????? I would say that there have been, and are, real talks going on.

Moyes would have come out and said, "We loved having LD here and wish him the best in his future pursuits". I do not think that he wants to jerk his fans around if LD is not in the mix, if fans wanted him.

As for me, a LD supporter, I am praying that he stays. I love watching Everton play, through thick and thin, through LD can't miss, and did, well you captured my heart and I will be watching regardless of the LD drama.

My bet is that he is staying through the season and then he will return after the WC for good. My opinion.
