Indeed.

Moyes: 'I think in the Premier League you come across games where you need size and that is something I think we have lacked and I have said that for a while,' Moyes said.

'If you look at Mikel Arteta, Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar and Tony Hibbert, we don't have the biggest in size so I had to make sure I got some stature in the team.

'With Tim Cahill out for such a long period as well, we have been really, really short in aerial strength so whoever I was bringing in had to give me some strength and stature and hopefully he can give me that. You have seen the size of him.

Right WHAT??????

WTF IS MOAT!???!?!?

Bookmarkoff.

The first is my viewpoint, you then quoted that the great David Moyes had size issues, not me. I merely pointed out that if Moyes had size issues, he has addressed them.

15 love.

To be fair i think you need presence rather then height in midfeild, we are a lot stronger now then when Moyes made those comments with Mofro and Rodders as well. To be fair Arteta and Pienaar have come on leaps and bounds in the past two seasons in terms of strength on the ball as well.

Osman looks a world beater sometimes, but is quiet on many occasions.
I also think many of us are writing Bilyaletdinov too early. I don't buy the 'already played a season' thing with him though. I just think he needs match practise, and is another who should be played as much as possible in our remaining fixtures.

It's hard to judge someone on a few performances. This season, I've watched a few Sporting games, but have to say that Moutinho doesn't look anything special from what I've seen. Solid yes, but we have similar players already. Then again, he is only 23 apparently, so his best years are ahead of him.

There is no one in the Everton squad that by himself can match Moutinho's passing ability, consistency and intensity.

Arteta might be a great passer of the ball but he lacks the tempo and intensity of Moutinho (he's a great dinamo). The same goes with Osman. Besides that, tell to play as the holding midfielder and Moutinho will do it. Tell him to play as the attacking midfield, and he'll do it equally well. Tell him to play on the wing to balance the side and help on defensive duties and you won't notice him but he'll be playing a major role for the manager.

If you have seen him this season, you have been watching the worst season in Sporting's history since I was born. Moutinho is having a crap season but the best thing I could tell you about him is "you don't notice him much on the pitch but pull him out of the first eleven and you will notice his absence".

And he has missed something like 3 or 4 matches in 5 seasons in all competitions. Plays as many times a week as he's asked always with great commitment, and he never gets injured. The other day he had a muscular problem and he was doubtful for a match...that was big news around here. At Goodison he was substituted...first time since I remember.

You don't have anything like him in the squad.

His release clause is 22,5M€. But I think Sporting will let him leave for 16/18M€.

So it's something like 15M to 16,5M quid.
