Everton: we look an unhappy camp

So 2 games is quickly going backwards? Before these we had beaten West Ham, lost to Burnley and drew with City which overall could be labelled as average at worst. Think everyone are still just looking at the Chelsea game but we need to forget that now and get on with it. Saturday we came up against a team with the new manager enthusiasm who nicked a lead and sat on it, it happens.

2 games? we have won 1 in 7 mate . We have been poor in every single match, a couple of them he managed to change it up and get a result, now already we are flailing.

I tell you what would make the camp much happier, if a young and attractive Babs Windsor showed up and started doing exercises until she exercised so vociferously that he bra came flying off and hit Koeman in the face, at which point he spluttered and demanded that Big Dunc take her away

Guaranteed to work

Where was that enthusiasm the 4 games prior to the game against us mate where Bradley only picked up 1 point from a possible 12?

Yes we should have done better I have said that but we are going through a bad patch which every team do. Too say this is how this our season is going to pan out now is a bit over the top. Do you really think we are going to only win 1 in every 7 all season now? For me personally our bad run coincided with Baines being out, with him back now I'm expecting an improvement. Get Barry back and drop Jags and we'll be good to go.

You're missing the point, We haven't actually moved on at all from last season, the slump is plain as day and it's the same faults as last season, so apart from a few matches where the players tried for the new manager, nothing has changed from Martinez last few months.

That's your opinion and I'm not going to knock it. We've beaten Sunderland, Stoke, West Ham and drew with City and Swansea. We got nothing from these games last season. We are also playing to the last minute as was proved Saturday and not falling off a cliff after 75 minutes. My opinion is we have a good 11 - 13 players so when someone is missing we are going to struggle. Baines out was a big miss as Oviedo is never a left back. Gueye then Barry hit us and Jags is just a liability now.

Not knocking you personally mate, but take a look at the Martinez thread this time last year. It's spookily similar with people saying 'once x,y,z are back it'll be fine', 'once we get past this tough run of games it'll be fine', 'once the new players settle in properly it'll be fine', 'it's just because of Howard, drop him and it'll be fine'. It never was fine though, we just carried on muddling through.

I've said before, I'm not judging Koeman yet or anything, but I think far too many fans just kind of assume everything will sort itself out, even when the evidence of their own eyes says it won't. I think we're a bit like that at the moment, in that we may well improve beyond recognition, but so far we look pretty hopeless. Any improvement will be due to major changes being made I think, not just through things clicking into place.

He'd been there 4 games before that match against us: lost three and drew one.

I this that's correct. I must say I am guilty of it thinking "things will all work out".

But I'm resigned to thinking that nothing significant will change with the current group of players, RK might be able to give them the occasional bollocking or cajole them into raising their game the odd time, but the dye is cast I think with this squad. Too many players either past their best, and/or consisently not good enough. We will need a serious overhaul to have any hope of being able to compete at the level we want.

I think Southampton had a ropey patch about this time last season as well.
The chemistry in the team at the moment doesn't seem to be just right. We are still hard to beat(Chelsea apart) but we seem to lack a bit of flair and imagination.
I think Deulofeu is desperately unlucky not to be involved more and I hope we will see more of him in the next few weeks.
I would love to see him as a 10 behind Lukaku with Barkley dropping deeper.

I think we need to give Koeman time to properly assess his squad then work out what he needs to buy next summer, then judge on what that season provides..
Combined with a couple of winter purchases to lift our spirits after what's about to come from this next run of fixtures.

6 months not long enough? He's had plenty of time to assess it, load of tosh. He and whoever else made a mess of transfer window, that's the problem, now he's stuck with an under-performing squad that were already under-performing for the previous manager.

Nothing has changed from Martinez last days, nothing, absolutely nothing, that's with his signings in too and his tactics employed on the field.

Koeman likes fast and athletic players primarily. If they have creativity that'll be a bonus.

Vast majority of the team are Moyes/Martinez players that's why.

Changing the goalie won't make any difference.

We've conceded less goals with Ashley Williams in central defence (14) than we did with John Stones in central defence at the same stage last season (16), and that's including the 5 we conceded vs Chelsea.

One central midfield ball-winner in Gueye playing alongside an aging Barry and/or a wantaway McCarthy won't make any difference.

A winger in Bolasie who's ill-suited to a pedestrian central midfield and one striker up front who struggles to hold the ball up or work hard for the team won't change anything.

We need at least one first team goalie, one mobile young centre half, two full backs, 2 central midfielders, another winger, and at least 2 strikers.

Successful clubs plan 2-3 transfer windows ahead. A combination of scrambling for players in a transfer window straight away combined with giving established players a chance (and being let down by them) has led to where we are at. The manager and brand new scouting team need time to get players in and can't be judged until after that happens. Koeman is not a rookie manager, he's had relative success elsewhere when he's been given time. He entered the job when we were at a low ebb after two dire seasons under a terrible manager who commanded no respect from his players. Calling for his head after 3 months in the job is absolutely ridiculous.

I like Deulofeu but he hasn't done a lot when he's been given a chance recently.
