The defence is our major achilles heel now...weak, disorganised, ball watching and reprieved somewhat last week by virtue of Stekelenburg's saves. And even he isn't that good normally. I worry when Jagielka goes into that 'head-down' shell...hes done it throughout his career with us amidst bursts of playing well and it never ends well. Last week was the cue for this with his penalty awarding tackles. Hes not an organising/get a grip skipper though...and unfortunately never will be. Coleman worries me too...hes been off form apart from the odd game for a long time now and theres no swashbuckling runs forward to camouflage the defensive frailty that has come to the fore more now. Theyre a player down though really at the back with poor speedless Oviedo's post injury decline. Big decisions for Koeman who frankly underwhelms me a little more now than when he first came. Or maybe Im still peed off with journeyman performances with tedious regularity from players who don't seem to realise the shirt they are blessed to wear. Or maybe, then again, some are simply just not up to it. The ones who have been up to it in the past annoy me even more now though. Id take even third gear from the 'coasting in neutral' that's becoming the norm. Good, the wines breathed better than me now...its gonna be a long night.
