It's a big task for Koeman as the best players this season have been the 4 he bought permanently plus Lukaku and Barry who are probably the only 2 players of any consistent quality from the last 2 Martinez seasons. Some like Coleman and Baines have done alright but really he needs to rebuild an entire team and it can't happen in one summer or even one season

I'd happily get rid of Lukaku. £50m right now and I'd snatch peoples arms off for it.

He isn't good enough for our overall play. We need to rebuild the spine of the squad, and it starts with getting rid of him and having a coherent plan for a game instead of just hoping beyond hope he turns up.

Lukaku is a great player. The problem isn't with Lukaku it's with the system and the lack of quality service he's getting in it.

I'd avocate giving him a strike partner and playing him in a system that suits him. You don't get rid of your most talented player because the system you're using isn't working, you change the system to suit him.

That's me done for a while there. It's just Everton all over, doesn't matter if it's Moyes, Martinez Koeman or Guardiola. We could have Messi, Iniesta and Pele in this team and we'd still conspire to throw it away every week. Just fed up watching the same game unfolding all the time. I'm out.
you'll be back next week mate...we all will.

...but I understand your present disillusionment

...we all do

Played well today and really should have come away with something, but a couple of lapses defensively, not taking our chances and a bloody awful ref have cost us.

On the bright side @ianefc is sound.

I don't think we are lacking quality, we seem to be lacking consistency. What we really need is someone who can take the game by the scruff of the neck when things aren't going well and drive us to victory.
Today just looked like we didn't have anyone demanding we win, they all had their heads down and needed a lift, but there was no-one capable of doing it.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the Gueye change.

It looked like they were shutting up shop and probably only going to have breakaway attacks for the rest of the game at the time. Gueye had been booked and it could have helped to have a player on who could afford to take a yellow to stop a dangerous break. Gueye wouldn't have been much if any more use going forward.
