The Liverpool game is an irrelevance in the bigger picture tbh.
That game is never irrelevant to me mate, and probably to about 95% of our fan base. I agree that bigger picture, it isnt going to matter in 3 months time. But I don't want us going into a derby game with this chaos going on, get slaughtered and then have to live with our confidence shattered just before the semi final. Sack him, take each game as it comes, hopefully building back confidence and self-respect over the Palace, Southampton and Liverpool games and build a platform for the semi-final. The longer this goes on, the less stable we will be.

...I'm now absolutely convinced that if PALACE turn us over - which, let's face it, is highly likely - then there's just nowhere for him to go from there.

True dat.

We need some impetuous before the Derby and if it isn't going to come on the pitch then it needs to come from the boardroom.

Even with a temporary man in charge from Saturdsy onwards the atmosphere will be completely changed.

...it needs some lightness. And there is none currently. Yes, we may get some with results, but I just can't see them appearing either.

Strange and interesting times.

And a MASSIVE opportunity for the MOSH to stamp his mark.

I'm sure its been said in the thousands of posts already, but does he need a defensive coach in his team? A Dave Watson or Richard Gough type? Would that help solve the issue?

Martínez may need another FA Cup win to save himself
Roberto Martínez was his usual diplomatic self after Saturday’s draw at Watford, but the banners unfurled in the away end must have hurt a little. ‘Baines is one of us’ and ‘Martínez Out’ were held aloft before an even game, indicating exactly where supporter allegiance lay in the wake of a testing week for the Spaniard in which he claimed Leighton Baines’ comments about a lack of chemistry in the team were misinterpreted. All signs seem to be pointing towards a summer managerial change for Everton. John Stones put in a poor display at centre-half – his distribution particularly worrying with a needlessly heavy back pass leading to Watford’s equaliser – while Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley will undergo tests for respective hamstring and knee injuries. For Martínez, everything now rests on the FA Cup. Both Watford and Everton are in the semi-finals, but it is Everton who have the tougher draw. They will play either Manchester United or West Ham later this month and, if Martínez is going to regain the support of fans whose patience has been severely tested in recent times, he surely needs to win a competition he famously secured with Wigan Athletic in 2013. I think his style of football goes against anything a defensive coach would want to implement. It's like when people say a Moyes/Martinez team would be perfect - it wouldn't because they're play styles clash with each other. We score so many goals under Martinez because we don't concentrate on defense, and we defended so well under Moyes because we lacked attack.

Yes it would.

But then the worry is how much would the rest of the tactics compensate that?

Think its much deeper issue with Martinez that. Defence goes against his belief in how football should be played.

disagree.
We saw the balance was achievable in the first season. Hasn't got it right the following two.

Only when we had the likes of Beattie or Bent up front alone and conceding first was a death sentence. Now it's SCORING first that is a death sentence..... only our Berto eh?

I certainly don't think we lacked attacking credentials in what I consider Moyes' "Attitude era" of 2006-09.

I can't believe it's monday afternoon and this fraud is STILL in the Everton hotseat. We deserve to get fookin relegated with this cavalier attitude to failure!

Just been told that Roberto offered to resign after Saturdays game. Offer was refused by Moshiri.

That's all I know.

That's interesting on two counts at least, (i) it means we've not made a decision on who would replace Martinez, or we've not reached agreement with whomever that may be, and (ii) it says a huge amount about where Martinez sees himself, which in turn must put a question against his plans for the long term if he was to stay (however unlikely that may be).

For those doubting Tommy, this Thomas is not one to be doubted.

+1

Wuldnt work...his ego is too big to put two men at the posts during corners...
