Or you get these things right in training and you don't fuel the debate further
Is that implying Baines should get things right in training or Martinez? I think the evidence suggests the latter option hasn't been too effective.

It is not as if Baines has came out with a scathing attack of Martinez or his techniques. He said what we've all known and seen for a long time.

Yes there should be tact when talking to the press, but if things aren't right then I don't think a draconian black-out will heal the problems.

I may be wrong on this but I'm sure they said in the Everton Podcast on the Echo site the other night that he's spent £100m already, and you want to give him more?? It's a bit of a fallacy that he's ace in the transfer market, for every Lukaku there's a Kone, for every Besic there's a McGeady, Funes Mori an Alcaraz! Throw enough mud at the wall some of it sticks!!
Where he does appear to do well re transfers is the younger players, Galloway, Holgate, Tarashaj etc, but realistically how many of them will eventually make the step up? What worries me is where we will be if and when then do!
Time wise he has now had nearly three years and is taking Everton backwards at a rate of knots, he has also spent pretty good money and you want to give him more of both??
Sorry but for me its Taxi for Roberto I'm afraid!

So, the poor players signed are the free transfer types and Kone?

Which players who he has spent actual fees on other than Kone would you say were poor?

It's a turn of phrase mate, jesus wept. Thinking Baines has stood there and apologised to the players for telling the truth is a leap I'm not willing to take. More power to you if you can.
Just a strange turn of phrase though. As is 'the truth'. His actual quotes as opposed to how the headlines read were hardly that dramatic

I'm not quite sure what Martinez is getting at, I don't see how Baines' words could be misinterpreted, I understood them completely and agreed with them 100%

No we didn't, he said himself the goal was 40 points.

To be fair when you look at the lack of signings and rumours of selling to stay afloat I would start of by aiming for 40 points each season. I think Moyes was very clever in using this to take the pressure off the players. Nobody can convince me that he was happy to finish on 40 points.
People compare the two managers but its worth noting that Martinez inherited a good team needing a couple of tweaks, in his first year he left the defence alone and if anything made the midfield stronger with a couple of attacking additions mainly Romelu and Delboy. Everything looked great. Now he has removed the defensive solidity and for me looks like a rabbit in the headlights, he isn't sure which way to turn, so he decides to stand still and wait for the inevitable. Results show this, fans frustration shows this, players body language shows this all we need now is the boards actions to show this. When its all said and done I would much rather take the cup win and start again than pray for bad results to make him go.

Just a little side note mate, if moyes target was always 40 points then Martinez is failing to reach that too with a much better squad after 28 games. He should get 40 points but the current run doesn't look good tbf.

Very strange if anybody wants Everton to lose for Bobby to go ! I want Everton to win regardless of who the manager is, win the league with Suarez, Gerrard, Rooney and Lescott in the team and id still be buzzing !

I mentioned in a post elsewhere that rumours of a petition have started, some people are saying those people should be embarrassed, I see it as somebody doing something about their opinion - results show they may have a point. Everton's success is what matters to me regardless of who is in charge. Safe to say that a lot of us are unsure on what to expect each season, under moyes we had high expectations...

don't think we expected that highly to be honest, there wasn't anyone really kicking off until his last couple of years when we'd been stagnant for about half a decade. i think martinez raised expectations after a great first season and that's been his own downfall.

anyway, like i say, if he goes or not, he's laid the foundations for us to be a real contender domestically - just like he laid the foundations at swansea. we have a massively bright future, a bit of patience wouldn't go amiss, imo. Then you see spurs and that doesn't really help ha.

I wouldn't argue against anything you've written there.

I think this is the most bemused I've ever been to an Everton managers comment.

I expected evasiveness or a tad reaffirming of comments...

A staunch defence and making Everton's most senior, respected pro look like a prat... Well.

'Baines' is a UK twitter trend because of it and well, that leads to the media taking note...

It was Moyes is it?

I doubt they really believe this even if that's what they might allude to. Some people just like to look edgy.

I'm 93.3857% Martinez out these days but if we win the cup I'll be running naked up and down my street for the foreseeable.

who knows what you read on the internet.

So its ok for Lukaku, and Stones to walk as long as we make money on them? Roberto has spent good money on players and has taken us from 5th to 11th to currently 12th!
I must be missing something!
Nope but your assets as a club are partly the players and money can be spent on the back of those assets increasing in value

It was Moyes is it?

from the 90's yeah. but i never really expected us to win anything under him because i don't think he has "it" to win anything major. i have higher expectations of martinez to be honest, i expect this manager and squad to win things. everyone's different i suppose.
