In a season where one of our most hyped but unproven prospects has issued a formal transfer request, and another talks about his ambitions away from Everton every time he goes away on international duty, I find it impossible to believe that the players feel anywhere close to how disappointed the fans are. Defiance is great if you can bounce back from a poor performance with a good run of wins, and Roberto can point to the cup game against Chelsea all he wants (the Villa match doesn't count because for all that they have more points than the Derby County 08 team had, they've less spirit and fight), but since the turn of the year we have played 17 matches in all competitions and won only 7. 2 of those came against teams in the 4th tier, 1 came in a cup tie of which we lost the second leg and went out. 4 games we have led, but failed to win. On a run like that, it doesn't matter if we dominate for 78 minutes with 10 men, but then lose. You only get forgiven for that if your form otherwise has been good. Own up or improve
Wonder if Davek will go off in exile when Martinez is sacked.
I have no response to any of the above Dave - you're a true blue, you know as much about Everton and football as I do - if you want to see Everton in an almost completely mirror image to the way I see it, so be it.
I respect you as an Evertonian, I believe you want what I want - a successful club, competitive and winning silverware. Your vision of how we achieve that and mine are clearly very different.
End of conversation as far as I am concerned.
the timing is the crux my friend![]()
Can we not just have 2 threads - one for Dave to bang on about Martinez' Messiah like qualities and another one for those wishing to see the back of Martinez?
OK, it's a bit of a partition approach but that's always turned out well
It's like how the North Koreans act about Kim Jong-un.That last line is way OTT. How is a club progressing its squad and progressing to the business end of two cup competitions not making progress? Progress in the league would have meant a second season whereby we surpassed 72 points and gained 4th spot. So it was always a tough ask to progress on that first season. Are the league results disappointing? Yes. He needs to improve this by bringing in a leader for that defence and a new GK.
You know what? It's actually your position that's the one lacking in balance, the very accusation you throw at me. That's because you can't or won't recognise the decent things achieved here during this season in all competitions and in the mans overall time here.
But I'm easily boxed off as a "contrarian". Sorry, but I won't be brow beaten by anyone and told that it's all black and white. Because that's basically your position - that it's all bleak. It isn't, it's much more complex than that (and deep down you know it) but you seem to have chosen to lump in your lot with the hang em and flog em brigade on here.
Sad to see the deterioration in your posting on here over the last few months or so. And I say that genuinely.
Fair comment.I have no response to any of the above Dave - you're a true blue, you know as much about Everton and football as I do - if you want to see Everton in an almost completely mirror image to the way I see it, so be it.

Jesus wept. It's like how the North Koreans act about Kim Jong-un.
