Come on mate by all means have an opinion on the season but this post is rubbish - even LVH admitted they stole it - had we been more clinical a point would have been the least we would have got.

I back my opinion. I thought LVG was being harsh on his side and generous to us. It was a low quality match played out by two underwhelming sides, so looking blunt in front of goal (and in the build up) for 95% of the match with just one effort on target simply isn't good enough for me. If Man Utd were a quality side and played as such, then I'd give us a bit of credit today, but they aren't and I think my previous post reflects the mediocrity Everton served up today.

There was nothing in the game we missed an absolute sitter as well as having several good position which we didn't make the most of. I don't recall Robles having a save to make - hence yes toe/toe. Season is frustrating enough without bending what actually happened.

...true mate, very flippant of me, I'm commenting as if all those 'good positions' actually count for nothing. Soz.

Oh.

My point of view is very simple, I think Everton are capable of attracting a much better manager than Martinez, and therefore I see absolutely no valid reason why we should keep him when we can employ somebody who is better than him. Choosing an inferior manager over a superior one is just masochism in my book.

However I don't think this team is as good as everyone thinks it is. I don't agree that it is the best since the 1980's. The 07 - 09 team would smash this lot into oblivion. It had better players, a better manager, and were a much better team. Our midfield isn't very good at all, it might even be bottom half standard. It's certainly no better than mid-table standard. Our defence is OK and is being disabled by Martinez' insane tactics, but we really need to add to this squad if we want to compete. It's not that good.

I agree fully on both points. We should be aiming for as high as calibre of manager as possible and yes the 07 - 09 side would batter this current team. Far more energy and tactical nouse and this was during a period when the likes of Man U and Chelsea had the best sides in Europe.

You lend Martinez too much status. He is so diminished in most Evertonians' eyes that he is not a polarizing figure at all.

No no no that's not true

Polarising - essentially groupings as polar opposites - you've got David at the South Pole of Sadism and the rest of us at the North Pole of [k]Nowledge

As long as Dave refuses to join us, we're a polarised fan base

Still playing that tune are you?
Polarizing isn't the Manager. Polarizing is the rubbish seen on the park, and the fluffity fluff spoken about that same rubbish afterwards.
The supporters at the game are not fools, as you are constantly making them out to be writing this.

I am not calling them fools at all. Not sure how you construed that out of what I said.

Martinez is the toxin for the toxic atmosphere.

The fans are so fed up they are very critical of our play...it's past the point of no return for many of them.

Chances are we'd have signed someone who scored 10 to 15 goals a season.

It'd be oversimplifying things to say that the difference would put us in danger of relegation, but it would probably would do.

There's too many differentials. The other striker may only have scored 10 to 15 but may have got like 87 assists and been a right snidey a-hole who got opponents sent off and won 32 penalties all converted by Baines.

It's just impossible to say.
