Everton and Martinez are to blame should Lukaku leave

Accountability for what exactly? For using the pre-Moshiri levels of squad investment to get us a record PL points total and to a point in both cups where we've never been in one season for a couple of decades, for playing in an 'ambitious' manner and scoring bags of open play goals, for using his influence to sign and bring through some of the best talent we've had for years?

And thats what you're thinking when he makes the same in game mistakes time and time again? When games crying out for subs at important junctures pass by with nary a whimper? When players take the field and have to be hooked at half time because they aren't ready? When basic mistakes in tactics get punished by teams we historically spank? When a player has to make a horrifying gaffe to get the hook after everyone has realised six months ago he's mentally crocked?

For all those things you constantly mention, you MUST watch games and in your experience from watching football for many years how could you bear witness to some abominations on the pitch and continue to turn a blind eye? The Arsenal game turned even the purists around to realising that this guy just aint equipped to deal with the Premiership. Cups, yep. Any sort of team with tactics, forget it.

Come on Dave. Aren't you secretly pulling your hair out like the rest of us?

Don't buy this personally. If we were top 4 this year then we'd be an exciting young team going places - don't see why any of our players wouldn't want to carry on into the CL.

We would've got minimum 1 more season out of Lukaku if we'd got top 4 imo.

......you might be right and I could be cynical on this one. I just think some agents like to have players on a merrygoround looking for bigger and better. Had we got top 4 you would have to assume Lukaku would have scored for fun and his agent might well have been courting very top clubs.

We now have investment but it might be a few years before our top players truly want to stay.

I get worried that some of the lads on the Martinez threads might not see the end of the season because of their fume levels giving them a cardiac.
My uncle passed away outside the ground after a torrid relegation scrap. Not saying this to be morbid as it was a fitting way to go and we won. But I've decide to take it all a bit less seriously since. What's worrying is how quickly I'm drawn back in.
He'd have loved Lukaku.

A player wants to play against the best players, that's the CL. Its inevitable that lukaku would leave us one day, even if we were competing in the CL because the big boys would come calling for him eventually.

The issue is that we could have got 3 more seasons out of him if the manager and the club had matched his ambitions. We have faulted massively.

I'd be surprised if he's here next season, I wouldn't be surprised if his agent is negotiating with other teams now, paving the way for that club to start negotiations with Everton.

It's a massive failure on the managers behalf, we should not be in this situation
