Single malts

I'd like to party with you some day mate...
Haha, sadly mate my partying days are long gone, .... but the good news is that they have been replaced with civilised whisky drinking sessions for any visitor who makes it up here to "Malt Whisky Country". Line the bottles up , proper whisky tasting glasses, water in a wee jug, ice if people must and work our way through a few as tasters with a bit of discussion about where they came from , then back to whatever one meets the individuals fancy. Doesn't happen often enough but good fun when they do.

Sounds like the best type of "party" I can think of mate. Include a scrumptious homemade gyros on the spit and it sounds like a perfect party to me...

Which one's which though? People drink JD with coke for a reason. Bells is actually OK for what it is.
Yeah those are fair points. I bought a can of JD and Coke from Tesco to try , it was pleasant. Bells is good value for a blended whisky, particularly if you want to add things like lemonade to it. Each to his own. There are times though maybe when I'm relaxing at home on a Saturday night when I'll open the whisky cabinet decide which single malt I'll go for ( For that's the title of this thread) and settle down with glass big enough to ensure I don't have to get up to refill for a while and enjoy life. One day I'll get around to recording my drinks, writing tasting notes etc, but probably not, I'll just continue to enjoy the drink for what it is at the time and mood I'm in. That's as close as I can get to explaining for me the difference between JD/Bells etc and the wonderful world of single malts.

I love Lagavulin and Bunnahabhain out of all the Islay malts. My wife's cousin John McNIven is one of the main men at Laphroaig distillery. My all time fav is a Speyside malt called Balvenie Carribean cask. Oh feck this, I'm meant to be on my best behaviour but all this has put me in the mood for a Guinness and a large Lagavulin 16:)

My idea of heaven.
