Roberto Martinez discussion

Not sure what the exact rules but I would have thought the ref in our game was spot on. Surely if a team score and then spend a few minutes cartwheeling into the supporters, they should add time on?

The thing is, it's injuries to 'suspect' players that have caused this turnaround in our fortunes, not tactical nous. Had Howard and Stones been fit they probably would have played against Newcastle and Stoke. We won't know what the outcome would have been but my guess is probably not 6 points!

I love posts stating opinions as facts

See I'm as big a Martinez critic as anyone, and I was voicing my concerns over a year ago so I'm not knee jerking to losing the odd game here.

Right now we are winning games, so you know sod it, Martinez is doing what we need him to do and there is nothing but positive things. We just all need to enjoy Everton right now and look for at least another 3-0 win and first appearance of naisse next week and keep these good things going.

ye i reckon our ref was right and todays ref got it wrong.

the problem, as mentioned, is consistency and following the letter of the law correctly.

mistakes we can all handle, but not doing the basics is bloody annoying.

What is the official rule? Ive never understood why the watch isnt stopped when play is dead for whatever reason rather than adding a set time on for goals etc

Still out for me

He's an utter fraud

I suppose a person can change - and the last 3 results could mean he has...if it sticks for more than just to get past 40Pts. That said.

I believe that in this whole squad there is an 11 or should that be 13 or 14 now. That, again, could, go out and do what Leicester did to city. Whether Martinez's supposed new found Philosophy 2.0 is strong enough / deeply ingrained enough in his footballing soul to allow him to wind a team up to do that is another matter.

I think not...up to now, maybe

The watch is stopped for treatment of injuries, moving players off the pitch. For excessive time wasting on free kicks...throws...goal kicks....goal celebrations. Unfortunately the rules also state "any other cause" and that the time added on is at the refs discretion.

So basically its not 100% black and white, which obviously then causes confusion.

In this technologically advanced age of goal line technology, space flights and microwavable popcorn, I cant believe we leave time keeping to those cheating charlatans in the middle of the pitch. Surely theres an invention that can do it automatically that stops the time when the play stops. Like a stopwatch, but better.

One of those things you only enjoy when things are going well, but it's nice how thoroughly founded on British talent our team is. The starting XI vs Stoke and Newcastle was chock full of it - including the entire midfield!
