Roberto Martinez discussion

Pipe down. The 'knee-jerkers' are the ones who just wanted Everton to win more games. They're not gonna complain that we are doing it are they?

No, the 'knee-jerkers' i'm referring to mate are the ones demanding Martinez be sacked after losing to City at their place in a semi-final.

We all want Everton to win.

As an aside, the look on your face a couple of years ago as the Geordies entered the pub, pre-match - you were completely unsighted, yet totally aware of them entering.

Amazing to behold. Native American-esque instincts.

I can sense topless tithead scruffs at a hundred yards instinctively.

I told one of them to f off at the bar about two minutes after that when he tried to banter me.

Bunch of [poor language removed] who try to be everyone's best mate on away days but are dead moody when they're on home soil, like their police.

I'm not accusing anyone to have 'plotted'.

Just merely suggested that it was rather knee-jerk to have wanted Martinez out.

Opinions though.

What the hell is icyhot and what the hell is a jock?

Martinez was always my number one choice.

The thing is, it's injuries to 'suspect' players that have caused this turnaround in our fortunes, not tactical nous. Had Howard and Stones been fit they probably would have played against Newcastle and Stoke. We won't know what the outcome would have been but my guess is probably not 6 points!

Could equally say it's down to McCarthy coming back and Martinez choosing to play Lennon rather than Del...

Don't spoil it...let him believe. If we won every game from now till the end of the season Martinez would never get the credit from some. I can see a very good football team that is struggling to find the right balance. Points have been dropped very easily but I still see a very good team and its been a long time since I have said 'a very good team' about an Everton side.

Agree entirely mate. When we've found the right balance this season we have been unplayable.

I cite yesterday, Sotton away, Chelsea at home, City at home in the cup, Chelsea away, Norwich and Bournemouth away (1st half of each), Sunderland, Newcastle and Villa at home.

Our main issue has been the consistency from game to game and sometimes not being able to adapt to a game if something goes wrong.

When we get it right though we're a joy.

And I've seen more signs of us getting it right this season than getting it wrong, and that's without factoring in clear-cut decisions (not talking about pens as they're subjective and you often win some and lose some), but clear cut calls that officials should get correct, that have cost us points.

Also interesting to note how fuming LVG was today that there was not time added on.

Oliver, who is by far the best ref in the league, called time bang on 96 mins (after 6 minutes of allocated time). That is despite Chelsea scoring in the 92nd minute and celebrating for two minutes - just like we did there and just like at Bournemouth.

Consistency needed from the officials as well...

Back to my point i'm not saying we aren't to blame for our own mistakes. We are.

But, we're a young side that is still learning, while at the same time playing some breathtaking football and the best football i've ever seen and Everton side play.

Game by game now until we get to a point where it can be realistic to target a place in the table to finish. Six points off 5th at the moment. A lot can change in two games, either way...
