Looked knackered in the second half last night, but so did everybody I thought.

besic looked gassed asf with all the running around he done, barry is just to slow, on the ball, gtreat and when we are in control of the game its fine, its when we are on the back foot he tends to cause us problems I think

I suggest you retake Footballing 101 class, and then rewatch a few of our recent games. He is absolutely key to stopping teams like City and Spurs getting at us purely by his constant movement to be in the right place at the right time. All the while calmly directing the other players as to where they should be. Him and Jags were excellent in that regard.

I think shouts like play Mo and Macca, or Kev should be in over Kone or Clev or Lennon, tend to forget about team tactics. The game is much more than legging it about and not as simple as "i think these look like better players so lob them in and the team will be better".

Barry covers a lot of ground and not an ounce of that movement is wasted.

as ive said previously, barry while on the ball is great and when we are controlling a game its fine. its when we are on the back foot and teams counter attacking us, hes too slow to recover, and get back behind the ball.
macca works so so so hard, hes the one id have in there no matter what, hes brilliant.
I personally think kev is an arrogant pleb and isn't as good as he sees himself.
I just think if your in a fast paced game, barry isn't your man, hes never chasin back to get behind the ball (because he cant) too slow to recover and gives allot of silly fouls away (by beign too slow)

and id like to point out that I mentioned he was class agsint city in the cup, because we controlled the game.

On average he gives away the same number of fouls as what McCarthy does aswell as making more of a defensive contribution

question. big strong midfielder is on a powerful run through evertons midfueld, we are on the back foot, whose most likely to chase him down and make a tackle:
1. barry
2. mo
3. gibbo
4. macca
5. cleverly

why els would his yellow card record be so great?.
Because he plays in a position that tends to have a lot of yellows, quite a few of them "take one for the team" to stop a counterattack, and he's played the third most premier league games.

That isn't to say that he doesn't pick up some stupid cards, either by being a bit slow to the tackle or a bit rash, but it is less than you'd think, he's had 5 yellow cards this season which includes the two in one game that saw him sent off.

In comparison McCarthy, who has had almost half the game time has 4 whilst Matic has 8 despite still playing less than Barry and youthful Eric Dier has 7. Not going to be many DMs who have played regularly that don't have a few yellows/reds to their name at this point in the season.

Barry wouldn't have been that far forward, so i'm picking him to tackle said big strong midfielder, stride majestically forward in his old Adidas World Cups, and then put a wonderful ball over the onlooking defence for Lukaku to head home.

And what?

fair enough but my point is that barry is just too slow for certain games.

not having any of it, barry is just too slow, im not saying hes [Poor language removed], ball at his feet hes great, the point im making is on the back foot chasing down, hes just too slow, simple as that, and what

Hes doesn't need to be quick, his positioning is excellent and a lot of the time he'll break an attack up with his reading of the situation
