the fact your comparing barry to iniesta shows what type of minded person you are. have u ever seen barry do anython close to iniesta? no. two different players totally. what inietsa does with his feet barry could do with his [Poor language removed] hands on Adderall

Here in lies your problem - in your eyes apparently, someone has to be threading through balls or running players at pace to be a decent player.

That's nonsense. Barry has been outstanding this season due to his brain in defence and possession, not due to his physical prowess or passing range, which isn't his game.

And if you disagree that he has been outstanding, you're just wrong tbh.

not atall that wasn't my point, I was howing how different those two players are.
barry is a very good passer of the ball actually and ive said that, he keeps things ticking for us when we have the ball, agasint city he was absoloulty brilliant, ive not denied that, I just think hed bebetter in the middle of a midfield 3

You're bang wrong on that IMO

He has been in the middle of a midfield 3 in games against Palace, Leicester, Norwich, Newcastle and Stoke - all games where we looked soft defensively because the balance wasn't right and the lack of a defensive partener alongside him actually did allow teams to exploit his lack of pace

cheers

mate

Hey mate, I know you're new here but trying to tell people what they meant in their posts won't see you do too great.

I get you don't like Barry. Fair enough. I have moments too where I feel we don't need 2 defensive mids at all, and struggle to see why he plays every game at his age. But I'm struggling to see why you can't see he is one of our better players. Especially this season.

The he's slow argument doesn't really work for me.

THATS MY POINT!!!
he needs defensive support agasint player who exploit that lack of pace!! it al depends on who the other two are, no point putting two attacking midfuleds with him because not defensive support!!

ive not said hes bad? hes got a great footballing head on him, great passer and in possession he keeps things ticking over for us and keeps the play going, that's what type of job I see him doing and hes great for that, he done that all day against city. the point is his lack of pace at chasin back is poor and he needs somoem whos going to help him do thatm which is why I feel a pact 3, macca with him when hes fit, would be better

Yep, I agree - last night he had Besic alongside him with Barkley ahead of them

To my eyes, that gets the best out of Barry and covers his weakness (pace) more.

I don't understand what you're suggesting we should do differently. You've just said he should be the middle of a midfield 3 - I'm saying he shouldn't

Horses for courses obviously and there are games we can get away with a slightly more attacking shape, but since Besic came on against Spurs the shape and balance has worked and I wouldn't change it as the balance has been spot on

Fair enough. Struggling to see how a 3 would work really.
