Joel Robles

You have no idea what he would of saved. He's saved loads of shots similar to their goal.

first one on here isn't that much different, he's got better positioning than Robles, so whereas he wouldn't of made that amazing Aguerro save that Robles did, doesn't mean he wouldn't of saved the shot but would of been in a better position so it would of seemed far simpler.

He's really not as bad as people make out, but his lack of ability to command the penalty area makes it time for him to go. Like I say Robles>Howard on the back of that performance as Robles played very well and the defence seemed to feel more confident.
But people on here are very blinkered as to Howard imo.

I only thought after the goal that Howard may of been better in that one in one, but on the flip side I think Robles commanded his area better and also his distribution was far better
If I had to pick a GK for five a side Howard would be my man, as a shot stopper very good
His days are up, been a great servant but old Father Time is calling time

He's finished move on!

So was I - I was dreading bad errors with nerves - mlyons and DitheringDoug on here giving me stick post after post etc , but I kept my faith like my avatar the stick he got replacing the Golden Vision in the ground of many fans and as a ten year old I told them straight with my big brother give him a chance!
That's my argument he needs game time if he works out poor then we know for sure!
Every player should be judged after playing around 10 consecutive games, after that I think we can judge.
In Robles he had a great little run and I think most would agree he should of been allowed to continue
I just hope now he is given that chance, he could save us slot of money if he turns out to be very decent

Yep, the Howard brigade are running out of excuses now. The difference in the defenders was clear to see, when it's Howard between the sticks you can sense their anxiety when the ball is played into the box because, they like us, know how awful he is at coming for the ball. With Joel they clearly had faith he could handle himself and there were no jittery nerves really.

Why does everyone have to belong to a brigade ffs?

How is he a good shot stopper when he doesn't stop shots that aren't hit straight at him?

Exactly its so obvious why can RM just throw him in last night with no match practice , and you can see the defence looked better v one of the most potent attacking sides in the division and top scorers in this competition - Why he cant have a run in the team is what a lot of posters on here bar a few have been saying it hits the press - I have noticed he is blameless on MOTD too too scared to criticise an over the hill USA keeper!!

I think if you look at the amount of saves he makes when in situations to last night, he is pretty good.
His problems lie in commanding his area on corners and crosses, he can be suspect to long distance efforts but not a massive failing.
I think his time is up, but let's not go down the path of him being the worst GK the Premiership has seen.

It is my only critiscm of RM, and it appears to be more down to stubbornness than anything else.

Robles would be a gamble in some respects, but I think he could turn out to be a half decent GK.....given the chance

Ultimately playing Robles is a gamble, but then so is Howard. He's at least as likely, if not more, to cock something up.

The difference is that Robles is a DECADE younger. Put faith into young players as mistakes can be learned from. But you can't teach an old (and ludicrously arrogant) dog new tricks....

what 5 on here in a Brigade?
By the way has mlyons been banned too as he has gone quiet after trolling me for a week over how great , and how poor Robles was with all the stats?lol

It wasn't me calling it a brigade mate. I was questioning why any opposing view has to be a brigade.. the Anti/pro Moyes brigade, the Anti pro/Martinez brigade, the anti/pro kenwright brigade, now apparently there is a pro Howard brigade.
If you only think there are 5 then fair enough. I think most have lost patience with him personally.

I am more than happy to gamble, I think 99% of the fanbase are

Realistically Howard and Joel are pretty much the same level, neither are the answer to our problems. The reason I want Joel to play however is to create competition, Howard has became very complacent because he gets his spot in the line up and his pay check every single week.

Last night was the first time I've seen him play with some real confidence and that does rub off on the rest of the team. How do you think the defenders feel when Howard has been out of form and has the crowd grumbling at him every game.

As manager Roberto has to notice this and make the change, there's still a lot more unkown on Joel where as we no Howard won't be getting any better.
