Roberto Martinez discussion

Predicting that he's not going anywhere is probably the safest prediction in football. So what if he isn't, does that mean he gets off without any critical observation of his under performance?

Ultimately our youth and inexperience (if you wish to see it this way) is Martinez's choice. Coleman has neither issue so there is no excuse for his rank form, Stones has had two and a half seasons now and is a full international, when does the 'inexperience' line wear thin? If he's not learning why is he in the first team? If the defence was crying out for experience why did Martinez go and buy a player with no prem experience in Mori? I don't think he's a bad player by the way. Equally why did he select Galloway over Baines or over Garbutt who is on loan.

My main point is people need to stop divorcing negative outcomes from the manager's decisions. If we have a young team, its because Martinez has tailored his transfer model that way, if we have a poor keeper its because Martinez keeps selecting him, Howard's 'individual errors' are Martinez's every time he keeps picking him. If we have an inexperienced defence that is the outcome of Martinez's selections and transfer policies. Otherwise the argument can be thrown the other way to say that Lukaku would score whoever he played for so Martinez doesn't deserve credit for that. That's illogical, the same way disassociating all the negative aspects of our team from Martinez is also illogical. He singularly owns al of the good and the bad.
Why are you giving him the time of day.

Goodness me this thread.

Newsflash: He's not going anywhere.

Frustrating run of results for sure though. We are so boss going forward at times. So naive defensively. I guess that's part of the growing process with a bunch of young/inexperienced players at the back.

Great shout.

Honestly mate 1 more and I'm gone from spending time replying to you, you were warned yesterday by a mod throwing out these 'you want us to get beat' messages and it's not only inaccurate it's also a pathetic defence of Martinez. I want us to win every game, us winning on average once a month over the past 18 is always going to inspire a fume by those with expectations of the club.
My opinion is my opinion, and no matter how many warnings Mods give me it will not change my opinion

Sometimes the truth hurts.....

The thing is, we aren't building anything, because it's all being built on sand.

If you look at what Poch has been doing at Spurs, their first season was about becoming more solid. Playing hard workers like Bentelab and Mason in midfield, getting shut of players who didn't work as hard at closing players down.
This season they have improved with the ball, and a core group of young players who are all technically good with high energy levels (Alli, Erikson, Dier, Kane - just watch how hard Lamela works these days btw) compliment an experienced pair of central defenders and a quality goalkeeper.

It's exactly what we haven't done.

I will be in the summer too. Enough will be enough. But nothing matters now. It's not looking great. And if things go tits up against City, which isn't impossible, it will look worse.

I'm more a wait and see what happens kind of guy. It's far less stressful.

I usually am too mate...just today I've reached breaking point....I'd love to be proved wrong & Martinez wins a cup this season, strengthens us defensively and we challenge for Top 4 next season, but I just don't see it the way we defend...

It's both mate. Definitely both players and manager at fault currently.

But which players are letting us down?

I'm not pinning the defending on the players. It's obvious how they little time they spend on organising themselves at Finch Farm. It's also Martinez' fault that we've got a kid at centre half partnered by an Argentinian easing himself into the league.

Lloris is considered 1 of the best Keepers in the world.

Tim Howard is utter turd.
