He showed at this time last season that he can change and adapt. When under massive pressure from players, fans and club insiders alike, he ditched the turgid one paced tiki taka bore fest, and got us playing a more varied style, which saw us become far more effective.

He's at another juncture now, as he needs to accept that his Achilles heel is his defensive coaching (or the lack of it). It's obvious that he needs help in that area and he should set his ego aside and bring in a specialist defensive coach.

If we can become more rigid at the back, then we're in business, as there's little else wrong.

are we asking that a UEFA pro A+B exponent has to accept this stark realisation?

When Manchester United started their recent (SAF) run of success, it was built on a solid, if unspectacular, stable back 4 and a sound keeper. Sure, in Schmeical, they had a worldy, but they also had others before, and during, his stay there.

Their fullbacks were steady. Other than Rio, their CH's were generally stoppers.

Then they did what we currently do at times in attack. Winger(s), strikers, passing, tempo. (We have that this season)

It really is that simple. I do not want to sacrifice the aceness in our team, when something that is so fixable.

Lads say "But without Roms goals, where would we be?" Fair Q. But this team creates them goals for him, or at least plays in an attacking way that gets the chances.

It is hugely frustrating, but its is like having a draught in your house. Fixing it by closing a door is dead easier, and cheaper, than changing the double glazing.

I've no confidence in Martinez whatsoever but it's equally obvious that theres not many viable replacements. Personally the only way back for me is by delivering a trophy. But we'll probably need around a dozen over the two legs to beat city

There is nothing to suggest we will turn the corner defensively under Martinez, We have looked poor at the back for over 12 months and to be honest many predicted his inability to coach a team to defend when he arrived

Switching goalkeepers would instantly improve the defence
