The other week they drew in europe on thursday and then won the following game in the prem on the sunday then won in the capital one cup on the wedneday, 3 games in under a week, and we had people probably like you making excuses about the europa league last season being the reason we were so shyite
If you think we are not playing better this season then last you need to open your eyes mate

The standard of defending is school boy level. We could be 3 up and you know we'll concede - no questions.

So frustrating with Bobby. Needs to sort it out. The number of goals we've conceded from corners is a joke.

The hate for Martinez is becoming quite embarrassing. Thought Evertonians were supposed to be knowledgable. Sound like the plassy Chelsea, Man Utd fans when we don't win a game. I would only moan if we had spent as much as them and half the division but I see it for what it is. We ain't a big resourceful club anymore.......understand that and you may then see we are doing OK in comparison and that we are or can only build extremely slowly. Oh how I would love us to spend 100m per season but then I woke up...weighed up the situation and realised we are doing alright and are set up for better and longer lasting things.

What exactly is going on here mate? You watched the match yeah?

I wouldn't overstate the case though. It seems to me there's a small vocal minority who'd like to see Martinez out the door full stop. Most of his other critics, though, grumble at the draws rather than wins, but realise we have a manager that has us moving quickly in the right direction and they know that we have the right man in place.

The difference in approach between the former and latter is that the former have been weaned on the hopelessly outdated Moyes school of agricultural 'football' and see any Everton team playing football on the deck as an abomination - basically they want a hoof into the mixer and a towering header as the ball comes out of the clouds. The latter group are (reasonably for the most part) impatient for the great one touch football to bar more fruit more quickly.

What we're hearing from the Martinez out lot is basically the death rattle of hoofball at the club. On the pitch, Roberto has almost completely seen off this 'method' of play...and he's increasingly put it out of the consciousness of most Evertonians. He's made astonishing progress in just two and a half years.

Spot on

If my job is a defender or keeper and we collectively keep conceding goals and costing points I would be embarrassed and annoyed enough to stand up to the manager and say lets fix this, lets fcuking practise it and stop making us look bad and be nervous every time a ball comes in

The problem with that is they will be practicing against our players, who have managed about 2 goals from corners in the last 3 years.

When we finished 16th.

The following year we finished sixth, but were also knocked out of the cups by Port Vale and Millwall in the early rounds, and went out of the UEFA cup in the second round. We weren't even in the top half of the table until January. Just imagine the fume now.

We did win the FA Cup in '95, fuming had a bye the season after.

With Martinez: it's all about the hope. He gave us hope with that 72-point season...if his first season had been mid-table with 55 points our expectations would now be different.

Add the ridiculous dominance we've had and we can appreciate a lot of the fume is understandable.

Then folks would say he's tinkering too much. It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation when things aren't going well.

I disagree, you can have a balance. I'm referring to bringing them on as subs. He's not even doing that. Naismith scored a hat trick vs Chelsea, was poor the next game vs Utd (as was lots of the team), and hasn't kicked a ball since, nearly 2 months have passed. It's ridiculous.

The manager is making a lot of mistakes at the moment. Yes the team could be more ruthless but our tactics are down to Martinez. Playing well for one half every game is worthless & irrelevant if we're only picking up 1 or 0 points.

The only difference between this season and last at the moment is that we aren't capitulating & we're drawing instead of losing. This isn't really that big a positive either as the league is far more open this season and if we made a really proper push for it we could achieve top 4.

22.

For the way we threw it away, only Aston Villa sticks out as bad.
I am 30 yrs your senior, and believe me there has been worse far worse
If that is your worst you ain't doing to bad at all, I agree a terrible result when you think we had it in the bag.

Talking from a point of seeing a fair amount of crap in my years of watching Everton, we do seem to be heading in the right direction. I have no idea if we will win silverware or get into the CL, but we are getting a lot right but still getting some things wrong...

see the way I look at it is the cost of martinez leaving. If you knew he would never progress the club then perhaps you could say fair enough but without hindsight it's just one of those things. We are struggling to win the easier games and have issues in defence, think that is a no brainer. But the playoff of that is the young exciting attack we have. Would another manager have identified quality players like besic/del? championed stones so much? Moyes certainly wouldn't have given Ross the freedom he has now, nor would players like Galloway be trusted to play a role based on actually having a good game.

The game vs palace I thought offensively we were brilliant, especially against a defensive team, the link up between players was great to see and we did cause problems at a high tempo. The other side was the clear lack of training on set pieces which cost us the win, not the first goal scored that way. It was almost like the game was the microcosm of Everton this season, clear weaknesses exploited and a threatening attack.

If we could just go 10 games winning the easier games and not throwing soft goals away then the season would change dramatically. If we had won the last three then the table would look completely different! I can go to Chelsea and have hazard beat three players and score the winner and be able to say fair enough. But at the same time the what ifs will look back at this period of time, especially if it is the difference between a great season and a solid one.

The team have two chances next month to sort the season out though, I hope that's not our only positives for the season.

Frustration is understandable; it feels like the team are capable of beating anyone but just keep making the same mistakes.

How this then becomes calls for getting rid of the manager is beyond me.
