Roberto Martinez discussion

Honest to God mate, when you look at it it's spectacular entitlement behaviour that we hate "that lot" for.

We were away to another PL club FFS, we leathered them in the first half and ran out of ideas second half. We're handily placed in the PL, still in both cups, and playing the best we have for decades.

The doom and gloom - how on earth can people feel doom and gloom?

Just frustration for me mate. How we have only taken 2 points this week the way we've played is criminal. We need a killer instinct. But don't know if you can buy one of them.

I saw the potential last season when most wanted him out.

I hoped for more this season. Admittedly, I had big expectations. We've let ourselves down time and time again and the consistency we needed to build, hasn't happened.
Why are you speaking in past tense as thought the season is over?

We're not yet at the half way stage yet.

Relax man.

I know you did. It was a timely intervention. But surely you cant see this season as a continuation of that second season fiasco? I refuse to believe you do. You see how we're playing, you see the goalscoring, you see the cup run, you see us in the table standing at 6th currently.

We need back to back wins and everything is topped off nicely.

Question: do you think this is the most talented team we've had for decades? Well that surely underlines progress doesn't it?

I'm asking for ration thought, that's all. Believe me, when the day ends and frustration has subsided, most will reflect on how good this season has been. How could they not? What's your view?

My view ?

We're doing OK, playing great footie for a lot of the time, in with a shout of getting to Wembley.

We're likely to be eighth to tenth after the weekend's matches, which is a bit below where I'd have hoped we'd be. We need to improve in a few areas though otherwise we won't be in with a shout of qualifying for Europe based on our league position. As a fan, if that happens but we win a cup, I'd be happy with that, but that might not match the ambition of some of our squad.

GK
CM
LW
FW

4 areas which need additions...

Definitely a squad in development and the players also need more experience and development themselves.

With the talk of some players leaving i hope we see some additions in January.

The need for new personnel is clear, it's almost embarrassing bringing on Gibson or Naismith or somebody whilst claiming to be top four contenders. However something also needs to be done about our inability to defend corners or crosses, otherwise we will continue to drop points and finish mid-table

Wools nails it with 3 words.

'We're doing ok'.

No more. No less.

Dunno about that mate. Set pieces for sure we are crap. But did Howard actually have anything to do today?

Not a whole lot, but I can think of several times they got in behind us but messed it up. Jerome's sitter being one and the other being their 2 v 1 when Redmond made a terrible pass.

This is a good point.

Seems a lot of our current lot don't want to do the dirty work and put their head in where it can hurt.

We've conceded more headed goals than any other team in the league, that's not a coincidence.

Another main issue is we have a pretty small team comparing with other PL teams. We are poor when defending set pieces because we ain't got enough 6 ft 2 players parking the bus inside our penalty area waiting to head the ball away asap.

I think Funes Mori is good at heading. Other than that, none. Rom and Ross are tall but they seems ain't helping much when defending corners. Kone actually had done some defending work to be fair.
