Roberto Martinez discussion

See, I don't think we are. Our defence play well but I can certainly see why the setpiece thing is driving people crazy. Regardless, I enjoy watching Everton play right now, irrespective of the disappointment of a few more dropped points.

We were just talking about corners mate.

I think most people recognise that if we're committing players forwards then we'll concede goals now and then on the break, and, for most of us, that's acceptable because the positives outweigh the negatives.

Just giving goals away at set pieces is just stupid though.

I'm not sure that it would.

I see no reason why individual errors can't be eradicated as our young defence develops and we retain an emphasis on attack.

It's killing off teams that has been our downfall this season.

Agreed.

My biggest worry is how vulnerable we look everytime teams come forward though.

How many draws?, how many winning positions we lost in games to draw or lose?, how many goals conceded from corners?

The answer to all them is most of any team in the league this season, 15 games, won 5, 7 goals conceded from corners.

There is a lot right and a hell of a lot wrong, and the wrong is not being addressed or improved.

Martinez has won 31.5% of his last 54 games in the league, Garry Monk got sacked with 35%.

Really?

Monk's was comparative to 54 games?

I think you'll find his win rate over his time here is about 46% and the best we've had in that respect since HK in his pomp.

4 areas which need additions...

Definitely a squad in development and the players also need more experience and development themselves.

With the talk of some players leaving i hope we see some additions in January.

Our defence is poor, they can't deal with crosses and corners, so we are always likely to concede in a game of 90 minutes. The team isn't as good as some people think it is, the mid-table finish will be what the team deserves. If you are going to talk about the team being in development, then you need to accept that there are things that need improving and that the current crop of Kone, Cleverley, Barry etc aren't good enough. The unfortunate reality is that the team needs a considerable amount of further investment just to be able to keep hold of the big names we do have. Without the investment, the mid-table finishes will continue.

hugely frustrating

we have a striker scoring every week just like the team at the top of the league.

We have a player who is racking up the assists just like 40 million pound ozil.

We have a defender who is as good as anyone now and was wanted by the reigning champions as a prime target.

and we are mid table.........

I'm remaining positive but it's getting harder to do so.

... when we beat the first man, which we lost the art of doing late on in the Moyes years. At least it seemed that way to me, I might be remembering it wrong mate.

I don't remember the last time we took a corner which beat the first man, so your guess is as good as mine I suppose.
