Computer games.

Way way way more expensive from PS Store though.

Ah crap ... y'know just after I send this I thought "unless for some bizarre reason it's different in the UK." Should have known they screw you -- only surprise to me is they don't also screw Canadians. Over here it's same exact price as the store BUT don't have to pay tax. So PS store actually cheaper for me. Sorry for useless N. Americanized opinion. :)

FIFA only for me this year. Did them both last year and enjoyed PES but there's only so many Champions Leagues you can do before you want to play at Goodison in a proper league game.

Yeah that's obviously my concern. Figure I can deal with it for a year and it seems like PES is the one this year (although granted we don't have FIFA reviews yet but PES is supposedly best in ages).

Will be getting Rocket League on PC in the next few days.

Add me on steam if anyone wants a match, same username!

I love Rocket League. Been a bit addicted lately (although you wouldn't know it from my horrendous skills). Same username on PS4 if anyone fancies a game. I was actually thinking of suggesting a Rocket League tourney for GoT although not sure if enough people have the same system.

Never fully watched a Youtube review in my life, they're egotistical tits.

If I'm interested in a game I watch everyday players' videos and see how it feels from their perspective.

I read that PS4 and PC players can actually play each other, I'm just not sure how it's set up.

In the 20 minutes or so I've played, it is much MUCH harder than it looks haha

That's actually the joke/gimmick with Jim Sterling. It's a character.

Yeah I get that, I just don't find it that amusing I guess, I'm a tightarse, and once I start a game I get hooked into it for a long period of time, so I want to see exactly what I'm paying for. They're obviously good at what they do though, it's just not for me.

Aye each to their own. "Let's Plays", which you describe, I avoid like the plague as I consider them to be basically spoilers.

Ah, funny, I don't like the "Let's Play" ones either! I mean just regular players uploading their streams and stuff. Everyday players feelings. Their doesn't need to be a commentary or anything, just watching a game in process.

Anyone doing PES this year? Giving it a shot -- heard good things about this version and kind of sick of FIFA so taking a year off.

Pre-order through the PS store. Downloads automatically at midnight on the day of release so you'll get it pretty much ASAP.

Me 100% - Loved the demo (Even though everybody else seemed to think it was identical to the previous version)

Tried the Fifa 16 demo - Still can't take to that game at all - Everything seems....spongy?!

Personally, I love it. Admittedly I am a huge fan of both the universe of Mad Max and open world games. Yes it is repetitive, but then almost all games are in some way. FIFA? Play the same game over and over. Same goes for all FPS games. Most open world games present arbitrary challenges for you to complete, which are varied in some minor way, and allied with a progression system of some sort (being levelling up, getting skill points, money, loot etc). The only games that lack anything repetitive are usually short and linear.

Mad Max is addictive as it has lots of progression. Not only are you upgrading Max, you're upgrading the car, just how you want it. It starts off as an actual pile of junk, and slowly but surely turns into a spiked, rapid, fire-breathing monster. The main story is not really repetitive so I don't see the problem. The extra stuff is there if you want it. Go loot places, take down various threats, conquer bases etc, if you want to. If you get bored, then fair enough, but so far (25 hours in) I am the opposite of bored.

What I do not understand is why many people have been hyper critical of it being repetitive, but seemingly given little weight to the things it gets right. The universe is spot on; from the character's dialogue, the messed up tone, the vast expanses of post-apocalyptic desert. They've nailed it. The car combat is some of the best I've ever seen too. The integration of vehicle/on foot gameplay is smooth and both are fun (take note Batman!).

In my opinion, the only repetitive things are the usual stuff you see in open worlds (collectables, based to conquer, things on the map to destroy). It's standard fare, so I'm not quite sure why Mad Max is being hammered for that. At least with this game, unlike many open world games, you actually have some motivation to seek out these things. Be it to strengthen Max, upgrade your vehicle, upgrade the strongholds or whatever. At the end of the day, it's not Fallout. It's not a 10/10 masterclass. It is, in my opinion, very, very fun. Maybe I'll get bored at some point? But I've already played it for a day's worth of hours and most games struggle to hold my attention for more than an hour. Like I said, I love open worlds, Mad Max and addictive loot systems, so this game is made for me. I can understand why others might get bored or might not love it, but anyone calling it a bad game is way off the mark.

That senor, is an excellent post.

People complain about the 'grind' all the time. What people tend to forget is, THAT IS GAMES! It has always been like that!!

Like you mention, FIFA - play football repeatedly. FP Shooter - same thing level after level, map after map. Open world games - go here, kill 'x' or go here, collect 'y'. Fighting games - fight round after round after round.

It is the same for 90% of games out there. Even the truly great games have a big element of grind.

All games are repetitive. Lets look at some of the critically acclaimed indie games:

Papers, Please. - Repetitive
FTL - Repetitive
Hot Line Miami - Repetitive
Frozen Synapse - Repetitive

All brilliant games, but they are all based on doing the same 3 or 4 core things REPETITIVELY. Just like ALL BLOOMIN' GAMES!!!

A lot of people have a pre-disposition to dislike a game. Case in point, WB release Mad Max. WB had issues with previous releases, therefore this game will be broken and crap. Even when Mad Max releases, not broken, and incredibly optimized to play excellently across a wide range of hardware, the same pre-disposed people refuse to like.

Sometimes I wonder if breathing is too mainstream and too much of a 'grind' :/

It does feel like it's suffered because of the calamity that was the release of the last Batman.

Ultimately my opinion is that something being repetitive in a game is fine so long as it feeds into progress and you are having fun. If people get bored playing Mad Max then that's fair enough, most games bore some people. But due to the amount of building you can do (to Max, strongholds and the car) and the slow, satisfying improvement from destitute to powerful, I think it works well and keeps you hooked. And not a cynical, Candy Crush style hook. A good, old fashioned, gamey hook. Everything you do in the game feeds into something and is rewarded.

I suggest anyone on the fence give it a go. Especially on PC, as there are some ludicrously cheap CD keys floating about.

Have played the full version of Fifa 16 and it's very similar to 15 and previous iterations, as to be expected really. Mate got some copies through work early
Women's football is just strange to play.
