Computer games.

Loving the Rocket League love in on this thread.

Just a shame the original game wasn't nearly as popular.

Word of mouth is everything. 99.9% of gamers wouldn't have ever heard of Supersonic Acrobatic... can't even be arsed finishing the title! That didn't help them either I think, naming it something no one could remember.

But back to my point, I only found Rocket League because a friend showed me the beta. Then I was instantly hooked. Told my mates. Was chuffed when it was free on PS+ as I was going to buy it anyway (bought the dlc though, as I wanted to support the devs).

Ultimately you can make the best game in the world but if no one knows about it, then it matters little.

The new FIFA plays a little more intuitively for me with the passing and player movement. Marginally better than the last iteration in my eyes, much the same though really.
Refs seem to be slightly harsher too, some stuff you get pulled up on might not have been called in 15.

I think it helps there's been a load of ppl playing it on youtube too. Not sure when the original came out, so maybe I missed it, but a couple of the guys I follow played some, and I had a watch, looked pretty fun. Now RL turns up in my suggestions quite a lot.

Also a good point. I mean, the let's play boom happened a few years ago, certainly after 2008.

Anyway, I'm glad they've found their success. I know Rocket League is hardly an accurate football sim but it makes a mockery of FIFA, in my opinion. It reminded me that a videogame involving a ball and a goal can still be fun, and not just frustrating. I have more fun losing in RL than I do winning in FIFA!

i agree with he lack of joy in FIFA, also such a shame a differet type of football game has not been created, FIFA/PES has just steamrolled everything

late 80's/90s there was sorts of different types of football games(most not good! but made thngs interesting) but thats completely dissapeared unfortunately..

in fact when was the alst time a fotoball game was released on a major platform that wasnt FIFA/PES(not including manager titles)?
There was a Mario footie game on the Wii (if you count that a major platform like) from memory, naff all else though. Definitely a monopoly in Fifa and PES.

haha, shame theres a lack of competition as it could cause new ideas...suppose as they are making millions they dont really need to change things..

PES released today, has anyone picked it up? I really liked 15, and was gonna get 2016 but the PC port has been a disaster so thats not gonna happen.
