Joel Robles

What are you watching that i'm not ? He is an absolute nervous wreck whenever the ball comes near him. He is a shocking goalkeeper. One of the worst i have seen pull on our shirt. As has been said, yes we do need a goalkeeper and Howard isn't the answer no more but goodness me he is a lot more reliable that Joel. With money a massive problem for us, i believe the money we do have should be spent elsewhere. Bringing in a new number 1 is going to cost us millions and those millions need to be spent in other area's of our team.

please point out the last time howard made a valuable contribution that helped us win a game? it's villa away about 2 years ago when he saved that pen probably.

i could name about 15+ times last season when he made a massive cock-up which cost us wins, draws and changed the momentum of the game.

i'm being tounge in cheek with my praise of robles obviously, but howard is terrible. he's cost us so much over the last year and a half, whilst we actually showed the only bit of solidarity in the last two seasons when robles finally started to have some games in a row. he's a young keeper playing sporadically - howard is supposed to be experienced and getting a good flow of games. he should be looking head and shoulders above him - but he's not. at least robles has the chance to improve. de gea looked even worse when he started. ropey and a nervous wreck if i remember.

I would say a valuable contribution is being part of a team that defeats the opposition in front of you. So that would be 2 weekends ago at St. Mary's. What baffles me is that the likes of Coleman, Baines, Jags and Stones are seen upon so highly by yourself despite the shocking mistakes they all make each and every week.

For each and every one of those 15 + cock ups from Howard which changed the momentum of the game, i could go back and look at the season myself and list the chances spurned by our forwards and the individual embarrassing errors from players which led to teams scoring, as game changers myself. We've all established that last season from the entire squad was one to forget. I suppose i will hear the customary ' well Howard cost us at least 15 points last season ' remark now, when in all actual reality it was a mix of horrendous defending, bad goalkeeping and not scoring enough goals. Around February we had scored the same amount of goals in the league as QPR who were rock bottom at the time.

Robles will never be a premier league number 1 keeper for a team competing at the business end of the league. The very fact that you want Everton to go out and spend millions on a new keeper suggests you yourself are with me on this, you just don't realize it. Not one Evertonian right now can say they're confident of a result when you see his name on the team sheet and that tells you all you need to know about Joel Robles.

We'll agree to disagree but i stand by my opinion that Robles is quite comfortably the worst Everton keeper i have ever seen pull on our shirt and that includes the likes of Gerrard, Wright and Ruddy. I'm all for giving players a chance but i have seen enough of him to know he hasn't got a cat in hells chance of being a number one keeper for a team looking to qualify for Europe and beyond.

does it baffle you because you've plucked it from the sky? i've never said words of that ilk. i was slagging jagielka off for half of last season. coleman's had a great start to the season it must be said. our defending was abysmal last night, they barely caused us any problems but we couldn't clear the simplest of crosses.

i've seen enough of howard the same way you've seen enough of robles tbh - i'm not saying he's great or should be number 1 past this seaosn, i'm just saying out of the two i'd rather give him a go as i can't see him being any worse in all honesty.

people were moaning about how howard always get's beat at his near post and then his supporters say how robles did it v krasnodar. the fact they can only pinpoint the one time, whilst we can't pinpoint one time for howard seeing as he's done it so many times, say something.

of course him playing a lot more games has something to do with it, but he's 37 and still hasn't learned from his mistakes.

I said in June that with the limited resources our club currently have that i would prefer us to spend that money on other area's of the field as the priority before a keeper. A centre back, an attacking midfielder and a striker are much more priority than a keeper at the moment. At a guess, 99% of Evertonians want these positions filled ASAP. Whilst i admit Howard is on his last legs as at Everton, we could get away with him playing another season as our number 1 whilst the limited cash we do have is put towards filling those other positions. For us to get ourselves a new number 1 in this market, its going to cost somewhere between 12 and 15 million i would say. That can be addressed next summer.

Get away with playing Howard like we did on Saturday?

it would have been my priority along with playmaker. the other positions are just squad fillers really. alas we have no money.

Such was our defence against City, in truth it could of been at least 5.

I didn't see you posting the week before when we thumped Southampton away. I also remember a very crucial save with his legs at 0 - 0 before we broke up the other end and scored.

But anyway as you were...

He had a good game against Southampton a few weeks ago. Nothing major but did the basics right, which is something he failed to do pretty much all of last season.

It's a shame because he was having a decent start to the season until he dived out the way of the ball on Sunday and then made himself as small as possible for the second goal.

Diving out of the way is a little harsh even for you Eric. He anticipated a square ball across the 6 yard box. It was awful yes and he should never of been beaten from there, agreed. Diving out of the way is a bit silly.

The 2nd ?? This is proof that you have an agenda against Howard as i'm sure that with every goal we concede you'll nit pick at anything when looking at Howard.

he did close his eyes and do a pencil jump that you're taught to do when you first start swimming ... in eric's defence.
