It sounds like we have some promising young players coming through. Hopefully they all carry on working hard and progress to the first team. It doesn't look like we'll be buying many players this summer so having some good youngsters coming through would be a real bonus.

Don't know if his age is really an issue in the PL more than his physical presence. Rooney was 16 on his debut after all but built like a small mountain.

Although I never saw the game, Twitter was abuzz with his performance. It's important not to raise another young player onto a pedestal, as has happened so often before, but the fact that at the moment we have quite a few decent prospects in the academy is a great feeling.

If we get enough of these lads together in one team we won't need to sell them. Our production line seems to be going well now. We're starting to think each season which youth player will make the first team squad rather than waiting for our once in a decade academy player to come along.
