The aim should be to win every game you play therefore you should have the aim of winning silverware each season.

Putting out [Poor language removed] starting XIs against naff teams who have the desire to win against a 'big team' isn't the way to go about winning.
I agree you should aim to win every game, but my point is people expect to win every game...which is laughable.

The poor X1 we put out against Swansea was not ideal, but we were fighting on four fronts and the size of the squad we have we will struggle to put our strongest out all the time

Surely you recognise this

The whole squad need a cost benift assessment, I'd start with the Moyes old crew, than mojo ve to the McGeadys, pienaars.

Root and branch.

The thing that worried me at times this season in the league was a lack of desire, I'd be sacrificing a few of questionable wavering attitudes to be putting down a marker of standard.

Fair enough.

Genuinely surprised at that, tbh.

I was sat with @the esk mate. I have not been to GP since Noah was a lad. (Hence my pm)

I was astonished, in a bad way, when he said what he said to me.

FWIW, I really enjoyed it, but mainly cos it was part of a birthday present trip thing.

Last season we moved the ball quicker, forward and with more purpose, something which hasn't happened anywhere near as much this season. If you don't move the ball forward quickly then teams have got time to not only park the bus, but they can reverse it slowly into place and make sure anyone getting past has a valid ticket.
Last season we also pressed relentlessly which is what a possession system mandates. This year we almost never pressed and the times we did we looked decent.

out now. seriously peeved off with martinez and everton at the minute. hate that he's made me feel that way. all i can say is thank god that season is over, can we gamble on keeping him and hope next season wont be the same.

Two games a week with limited options due to injuries will do that.

For me, this is the reason why I'm happy to give him more time.

If we can't get back to the way we were playing in his first season pretty quickly next season, then the ( mostly ) valid excuses for underperformance in the league this season will be blown out of the water.

My worry is that we've got into the habit of playing too slowly when we've got the ball and not pressing enough when we don't have it and it could be a difficult habit to break out of. My gut reaction ( or just blind hope ) is that a few changes in personnel and some decent coaching can turn it round, but, if not, then a new face is going to be the answer.

True, but for the majority of those games, though we had lots of the ball, we got nothing because we didn't threaten, so we didn't really deserve anything. Too much is made of the fact that teams have "worked us out" and either park the bus or press our back four high.

I think Brownie made the observation halfway through this season that we missed the tight control and distribution of Pienaar and Osman and Martinez pretty much chimed in on that today.

We get the right replacements in and we'll be flying, IMO.

put christmas but even then it's only if we're really struggling (around the drop). however if god forbid stones or Rom does their knee in then can't really judge things off that

He's a typical boss man, never satisfied unless the workers are sweating bullets. :bye: Roberto is too relaxed for him.

there aren't many Pienaar's about though mate, not in our price range, perhaps changes in other parts of the team or tactics would be the way to go, most fans just want to see him at least try to adapt to it
