It's quite funny that he was apparently threatening to have the guy sacked during the "fracas" and all he managed to actually do was get himself sacked. Actually he's probably inadvetantly put most of the Top Gear production staff out of a job so maybe he did succeed...

rubbish, they'll just change the lead presenter (perhaps even the other two if they're stupid enough to walk over it.

nobody will notice the difference a few episodes into the next series.

If Richard Hammond and James May sign a new contract then I'm sure it will be fine. Can't see them staying without Clarkson though and I think it would be incredibly difficult to bring in 3 totally new presenters at once that will work. The thing that works so well on Top Gear is the relationship between the current presenters, if you just try and script that it won't work.

That's where I think bringing Coogan would work. He's quick enough to handle interviews and all the scripted 'banter' would be a lot less tired and predictable.
