Yeah but really the shows him and he's IT.

No one else drives cars he does for a living or takes the pizz out others driving and calls it "banter" better than he does. I personally don't like him but he appeals to a certain demographic and he's clearly knowledgable and good at what he does.

It's got nothing to do with the cars it's about lad culture to the core and theres nothing more central to it than Clarkson bulling the little fella or the passive one.

I like him because I can identify with him

The show would struggle for a short while without him but it will go on and with the right presenter will go on for many years.

Clarkson is a very clever, stupid idiot, - a court jester if you like - not afraid to take the mick out of himself by saying obviously stupid things. The sterile humourless people who have usurped our society don't get this and take it too seriously.

I bemoan the fact that society is become so intolerant that they can't just ignore the bits they don't like, but have to make a colossal fuss. Without eccentricities like his, the Beeb has become ridiculously tedious. Top Gear makes a shed full of money for them - without it, we'd all have more reality TV on.

To me Eastenders is way more offensive. That pile of tripe is just wall to wall arguing and fighting cockneys - and teaches kids a stinking example of how to settle minor differences.

Coogan would be a brilliant replacement - and would infuse fresh ideas.

I'm boycotting the Beeb until my Top Gear is back in some form or other. This isn't as hard as it seems, as this is the only program I watch. I only watch MOTD when Everton win - so haven't even seen much of that recently!

from a viewer perspective i like CLarkson for being the guy he is. It is more entertaining when things go wrong for him when normally he is cocky and always better than the others. So from an entertainment perspective i like him.

Away from top gear, well, I dont dislike him. I more to the point, do not care for him at all. I pay him no attention away from top gear so if he is a tit then give him what he deserves.

I have a feeling he is innocent this time, standing up for himself or something lol

The BBC make £150m a year out of Top Gear, if they sack him, he'll do a Jonathan Ross and defect and probably take the sidekicks with him.

I doubt he will be fired they will just wind down his contract.

When his BBC Worldwide image and marketing contract expires in September this year it will not be renewed.

If his alleged actions are true he's an idiot.

I agree, whether folk like him or not I'd be amazed if he was given the elbow. Also, while I find him annoying these days, one thing I don't like about all this is the fact that sections of the media seem intent on seeking out trouble in this regard. I'm certainly not excusing things he's done as some of his actions deserve lambasting, but not all of them so at times it smacks of 'national media campaign' and let's face it, no one likes that. I'll make my own mind up thanks, Daily Mail.

The northern-roots-betraying-bad-Tory-wannabe clearly splits opinion. For me he's ok when on topic about cars, but away from cars he's rather annoying and irritating these days (see my half rant from last night).

Maybe I should infract him for being off topic?
