I'm not sure it's his "philosophy" that's the problem. I don't have a problem with playing out from the back, playing possession football etc. I really enjoyed last season's performances and they were consistent with his philosophy.

The problem for me is unrelated to that, and has more to do with tactical ineptitude and poor decision making. We've lined up far too many times this season with players playing out of position, a total lack of width, and a midfield that retains possession without ever looking threatening. Martinez's biggest failure in my eyes is his failure to recognize this and do something to change it.

Add to this the decision to bring the hapless Howard back when Robles was doing a fine job, the fact that I've never seen Everton players look more demotivated, and a catalogue of misfires in the transfer market, and you have a pretty clear idea of the bad job he's doing.

I went to the Arsenal Wigan game at the end of Martinez's last season at Wigan, and watched him watch his chaotic side lose 4-1. Even having been at Goodison when they beat us 3-0 on the way to win the cup, I was still devastated that he was being touted as our next manager. He struck me as tactically naive as well as a bit delusional. This opinion hasn't really changed; last season I found his post-match interviews a bit weird, this season I've found them hard to watch.

It's a real shame because there was something special about the attacking football we played last season, but I think it was built on the solid foundation that Moyes left behind, and I also think we got lucky a lot. This season it hasn't worked out that way, and Martinez doesn't know what to do about it. I don't think we'll go down whether he stays or goes, and I don't really care whether he goes now or at the end of the season, but I believe we can do much better. NSNO.

TOP POST mate....

For me it's simple now, it just boils down to a question, a really basic one, namely...

We have the best squad of players we've had for years yet we are dire, predictable & totally unmotivated...why?

The answer's pretty simple as well, sadly...

I love his long term plan for the club and want to see him stay long enough to implement it.

I am prepared to take a crap season (although he is really pushing my patience to the limit) provided be gets us back on track next season. If this isn't evident before the start of the Christmas period it's time to part ways as he will have blown his chance in my eyes.

I still would though...

What is his long term plan for the club.
The football is getting worse and we are turning into wigan on top of that the players are not playing for him.
What are his intentions?

He's been very clear about his plan since the start of his tenure mate.

Go back and read his early interviews and listen to the podcast of his meeting with the various fan groups/sites.

Whether he will be able to deliver is another thing but I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

Just show me another manager which had a blip like this with such quality players. Klopp? Nah, he managed to turn it around quickly enough to fight for european spot - and it was after 18 games, not 28.

Martinez would be gone in every single club of Everton status with those results. That's not a blip, noboby in a world football have a blips like that.

Where are the signs of improvement? I was patient and I would accept a bad season if we could put together some series of decent results (or just win more games than 1 in 5 ffs) and finished 10th or 12th, but it's getting worse and worse and there's no light at the end of a tunnel.

*Loads the Anti Martinez Gun*

I hate that i love Martinez, he is a lovely bloke with a infectious positivity, but im afraid in this day and age of modern football, if the manaer cannot motivate the players then the manager is in the firing line. I have said all along i hope he proves me wrong but im not too sure he will.

Plan B, mixing the style up blah blah blah, if he keeps us up and wins the europa league then i will give him another 3 months :D

I remember when spurs were in the bottom 4 with a quality squad changed manager and got into the top 6.
Martinez has lost it if he continues we have a very good chance of going down.
You do realise there are 10 games left? I want him gone, but this is definately not the right time. It's not like any clever manager is going to walk into a relegation fight with 10 games left, and it's not magic ffs. We wouldn't have a god given right to win just because we got a new boss.

He sees the season out, and theres a 90% chance we'll still be in the league, then he goes. Bottom line is, if we didn't have Martinez helm we'd be screaming for a manager who has relegation experience, and well, we've got one at the helm currently.

I've had a good think about this since last night and I don't blame Bobby for the mess we are in. He is what he is. He has his own ideas and sticks by them no matter what.

I BLAME BILL.

Why oh why did he think it was ok to give any new manager total control of the playing side of the club. We were 6th best team in the land and first and foremost that status should have been protected. This wasn't like when Moyes was appointed as we were rubbish and needed the overhaul. Also Bobby isn't a Sir Alex or a Jose, he is a manager who had won an FA cup, League 1 title and also diced with relegation for 3 seasons before being relegated. Whoever was involved in these decisions needs a serious kicking. I remember Bill saying when appointing him that he showed him how he beat city in the cup final, wow if that was one of the reasons for giving total control then Bill needs the longest kicking.

I think Bobby is the perfect image for our club, young, handsome, Spanish and perfect shoes. But he should have been put in as part of a team. Everton are bigger than any manager or player and the status of the club should have been protected at all costs. I believe Bobby wanting total control of LFC was the reason he didn't get the job there. His ideas added to what we already had in place could have been exciting for us.

So I've changed my stance slightly now from wanting him sacked to wanting a restructuring of the football side of the club were he isn't in sole control but is still our front man. I honestly believe that the job is too big for him on his own as it should be as we were 6th best in probably the best league in the world. We are too big as a club now to have just one man in charge.

Can this go on the new flags around the stadium or better yet on a new mural. Its beautiful.

I think he's out of his depth tbh. I think managers can go a long way with bluff and bravado these days. With good coaches, good scouts and a half decent chairman you can have success but will be found out eventually.

He's often spoken about laying a foundation down at Everton. A philosophy that will remain and prosper for the next generation, long after he's left.

Wigan are getting relegated to League 1 meanwhile..

We are heading for relegation serving up dross.
2 wins in 16 with 9 defeats with these players is shameful
The tactics are insane he has lost it mate.
We stand a better chance with a new man with fresh ideas and playing to the strength of our players.
Martinez reminds me of lambert at villa clueless watching it fall in around him.
Its a gamble whatever bill does but I know where I would put my money.
