Relegation Fight 2014/2015

On paper it looks that way - in reality, due to just how bad a lot of sides below us are, we only really need 9 points from the next 36 available to stay up.
Easier said than done mate if we don't get a win very soon because then lack of confidence will hit us

We are 14th now and its going to get messy.
We just cannot win even at home against the bottom club so we are deffo in a 8 team fight for survival.
I'm not seriously considering relegation yet, but I agree that it's got to be a possibility if not a concern.

We're in a scrap at the moment and need a victory or two extremely soon to help alleviate some of the pressure, or it will become difficult.

I genuinely do not believe that we have the mentality or physical presence to get into a fight: we lack guile, confidence and passion.

Worries me too.
We need some wins very quickly

It really is sad with a great club like ours that we are looking to achieve 35 points and for some patting themselves on the back. So we are aiming for the 35 point trophy. Congratulations will be in order then when we get there.

Posts like this are ridiculous. Who is saying they are happy with this. I meant 35 points after the QPR game not total!

Nobody is happy, just saying we will be safe

Six wins out of twenty-six this season; if this continues today then it will be six out of 27. That one win in every four and a half games we play.

Obviously it is only arthritic and not real life, but if that ratio continues then we will win only another two games this season.

And people say we'll get the results to be safe with ease?

I know it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we'll be dragged into a scrap where we run the risk of edging into the relegation zone, but for what it's worth, in my opinion we'll avoid relegation fairly comfortably in the end.

Doesn't feel or look like we will at the moment, but I'm hoping I'll be proved right.

By comfortable, I mean when we look at the final table we'll ultimately be about 5-6 points above the drop zone. Remember us beating Arsenal at Goodison last April? We went one point behind in 5th with a game in hand, with only a month left of the season. Was that comfortable for Arsenal? Absolutely not, but they still finished 7 points ahead of us which gives the impression of comfort.

As has been suggested already, the 40 point mark probably won't be needed this season. I think something like 36-38 will be enough this season. Strange things happen in relegation battles most years, and results can often be really difficult to predict at times.

I believe the worst case scenario is that somewhere along the line we'll just about get enough points with a few games to spare. I may be wrong, but that's what I believe.

Can I also put on record that I'm not saying our current position is acceptable, and that I'm happy with getting around 40 points, because I'm far from happy. In fact, I'm seething about it.

But most fans take the worst case scenario as their measure, being relegation. This is possible, but I can't see the worst case scenario happening.

He should be sacked after stoke beat us but he won't
Kenwright thinks he will win the Europa and keep us up.

He won't do either at this rate. We are in a relegation fight quite clearly

behave you bed wetter! your eyes are deceiving you!

We are actually ace and not in any bother whatsoever. :p

The players are trying their hardest for the manager and everybody is hunky dory with what they are doing!

I was pleasantly surprised by Martinez last season, I was possibly expecting his transition from Wigan to Everton to look like something slightly better than this season.

I certainly didn't see last season coming, and therefore, I also didn't see this one coming either. However, I now fear that last season was perhaps a fluke and that what we're seeing now is more like a true reflection of what's to come in the future.

I guess nobody knows what lies in store in the future, but I'm not holding my breath for next season. I anticipate a top half finish with us maybe finishing 8th at best under martinez
