No.one should dumb down the performance on Thursday. It was excellent and it's a disservice to say the opposition were crap. Yes they weren't at there best but maybe that's because we absolutely blitzed them in a 20 minute period where they didn't know what was going on. They then took risks because they had to and we picked them off at will. They've just beat Basel 4-2 who are no mugs themselves as the RS found out to their cost.

European football definitely does suit a possession based style of play and when teams come at us we look lethal on the break. Problem we have is that in the PL there's only about 4-5 teams who actually have a go at us. The rest of them sit back and stifle us. It's actually a compliment but in turn it's become a bit of a piss take now as oppo teams just hang fire wait for us to get frustrated and then hit us on the counter or wait for us to gift them goals ( tbh it's usually the latter isn't it ). We just aren't good enough to break down crap teams and Martinez doesn't seem to know how to implement it. Certainly playing it around the back for 20 minutes at a time isn't the answer.
Precisely mate.

It's up to Roberto to find the answer to that in the summer and next season. We are a victim of our 'success' last season. Outside of the elite spending clubs every single team will come to GP and set up to get a clean sheet until HT, get the fans on the teams back, then try and profit from it.

That's the reality, now RM has to find a way of turning the screw on these spoiling tactic teams.

But FFS we dont want to turn away from a school of science type of football which Martinez is in the tradition of to go back to the hoofing of the Moyes era. That would be a nail in the coffin of this club.

4-1 win against a team that hasn't been beaten at home in Europe for 3 seasons is "not all that".

You know you're not dealing with any sort of rational thought processes when you read stuff like this.

Unbelievable.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

That's not what I said - I said it was a team who weren't used to playing us and played a slow tempo AND operate in a lower quality of league. You read what you want to read.

Even Real Madrid would struggle to beat bottom of the league on a cold Sunday on Merseyside hey Dave?
If they had a warchest of ten bob like we have to deal with they would, yes. It'd be nice to have two top class professional teams to put out. But as long as we have that tit Kenwright and his mates we'll just struggle to cope with two games in three days.

So just to clarify then: 4-1 away to YBs was a very good result?

Have to disagree a bit there Dave.

1) we are a victim of poor tactics, team selections this season.

2) This is what many of us have been saying he has no idea and seems incapable of resolving the bad performances.

10 BOB?

He spent 28m on a striker, shall I list the number of Premiership teams that have 28m ENGLISH POUND strikers?

Rooney - Utd
Aguero - City
Costa - Chelsea
Lukaku - Everton

I recently watched some massive weapon on a US talk show. Apparently he is Everton's second biggest shareholder and board member. He certainly came across as a member alright

What has BK got to do with our disastrous season? The players are young men for heavens sake. They should be fit and able to get on with it.

@davek please dont take peoples disagreements with you as a martinez assault, i think the problem is sometimes bobby hasnt helped himself, formations and substitutions arent there like they were last year, his favourites are playing poorly yet he drops the brighter players for these substitutions i talk about. I wouldnt mind losing a couple of games if martinez finds his dare devil approach he had last season, draws arent worth much these days the league can be so tight.
