For me I would assess all in the summer, players wanting out, players available, who may be available and suitable as a manager. I think by the end of the season we will be better placed to make necessary changes.

Thats my opinion I hope Davek doesn`t get upset about me talking about `Martinez out` on a `Martinez out thread`

I think people can accept one off mistakes or poor judgements - however, when the man makes the same stubborn obvious errors over and over again with little cause to hope he'll change, then people will come to the conclusion that he's been found out and is out of his depth.

It's such a massive shame as if he had man management skills and a bit of flexibility, he could be a top drawer manager. But the situation with Howard is just the latest in a long line of errors - having team favourites is always a bad thing, as you should be looking at form first and foremost. Combine this with his "philosophy" which has been utterly found out in the Premier League and having him in charge is a disaster.

The matchgoers turned on him en masse at Leicester and in my eyes he's a dead man walking. I think he'll survive until around November sadly, but I can't see any chance of things improving to the point where he should keep his job and, indeed, should have been dismissed in January after the WBA result.

We played brilliantly against Young Boys in mid week and he was tactically very adept.

I'm starting to wonder just how good that performance was.

I think the young boys result flattered us. They are not as good offensively as we made them look and still created a lot of chances against us.

Going on Lukakus form this season the fact he scored 3/5 good chances it looks like Young Boys were also tactically and defensively poor rather than any tactical nous by Martinez.

obviously I am in the Martinez out camp

Young Boys, just like Wolfsburg, haven't spent their time looking at us the way Premier League managers have week after week.

Teams who play us in Europe haven't got Martinez's Everton figured out like domestic teams do; it's as simple as that. That, and the general standard of opposition is slower paced (which suits us) and generally lower.

He is a different man than last year. What happened to them quick boss substitutions he made last year. As soon as something wasn't working he would change. Now he is the opposite. Robles is a very strange one. Sure he bought him. I dono.

Well in honesty they are probably not as strong as we would like to think. Swiss opposition aren't formidable. Having said that to win 4-1 away, particularly the manner of how we won away, and the ease with which we played with 10 men was very pleasing. I don't think we can under estimate what a fantastic performance and result that was.

I think European football suits us. Clearly Martinez is not a mug though.

The Young Boys performance flattered us to be sure, but they had some solid results to back up our thinking on them prior to the match. Napoli is no joke, maybe a tournament favorite and they were taken down at their place. But it seems that game was a blip to positive for us.

These pretty much sum up what I've been thinking over the past day. I really wanted it to work out, and I think yesterday was the big test. He's dug his own grave with the fans with all this talk of the players lacking confidence. Well you'd think/hope a 4-1 win in europe to a team who have been pretty good at home would inspire this confidence. But unfortunately we all knew deep down we'd draw yesterday, and the game itself showed that this mythical "confidence" is utter rubbish.

And an edit to this - if confidence is what he's relying on I'm terrified what the rest of the season will bring

Or.... I wouldn't discount a certain theory from this forum - I have to say that the FA Cup replay made me suspicious, but the european performance on Thursday followed by the predictable mess yesterday has sent a red flag up. Lets see what this Thursday/Sunday/Wednesday run brings. If it isn't a (comfortable) W, L, (plodding) D I'd be amazed

European football does suit us, unfortunately premier league football doesn't and he won't/can't change it for different competitions. As there will be no european football next season, where does that leave us?

No.one should dumb down the performance on Thursday. It was excellent and it's a disservice to say the opposition were crap. Yes they weren't at there best but maybe that's because we absolutely blitzed them in a 20 minute period where they didn't know what was going on. They then took risks because they had to and we picked them off at will. They've just beat Basel 4-2 who are no mugs themselves as the RS found out to their cost.

European football definitely does suit a possession based style of play and when teams come at us we look lethal on the break. Problem we have is that in the PL there's only about 4-5 teams who actually have a go at us. The rest of them sit back and stifle us. It's actually a compliment but in turn it's become a bit of a piss take now as oppo teams just hang fire wait for us to get frustrated and then hit us on the counter or wait for us to gift them goals ( tbh it's usually the latter isn't it ). We just aren't good enough to break down crap teams and Martinez doesn't seem to know how to implement it. Certainly playing it around the back for 20 minutes at a time isn't the answer.

Well it leaves us with a manager who has to show he can deliver the sort of performances we have seen in Europe consistently in the Premier league.

Also note that Martinez has gibson, barry, mccarthy, besic and soon cleverly - all fo whom do not drive forward or shoot from 20 yards, gibson used to have a pop but cant stay fit. Definately need a powerhouse in the middle.

4-1 win against a team that hasn't been beaten at home in Europe for 3 seasons is "not all that".

You know you're not dealing with any sort of rational thought processes when you read stuff like this.

Unbelievable.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum.
