The Joel Robles Fanboy Thread.

If I was Joel I'd be putting a transfer request in.
Why? he's our second keeper this year who's managed to put some good performances when he's got a run in the side. He also knows that Howard will more than likely be away to the MLS in the Summer and it looks like we are trying to go youngish/inexperienced (Nyland) with a replacement meaning he'll be the senior keeper next year until/when/if Nyland can challenge him for the place.

Not entirely convinced on that. Sadly.

Robles has had a more settled back 4 I guess.

Howard hasn't had that this seaosn. Maybe it will help him as it helped Joel.

I dunno. Just looking for something good I guess.
Its a settled back 5 because theyve played together and have started a trust between each other.

Joel never came into a side with a settled back 4, he came into a side which was still ropey as fuq and defence was all over the place, was a very tough situation but he stood up and was counted, he had a shaky moment or 2 in his first game or 2 along with the defense but as the games go by theyve settled together and the past few games look absolutely solid.

Absolute mockery that a player gets his chance then earns a place gets replace as soon as the favorite is fit again

Tim will be after one last big payday with half an eye on his post-playing career. He's got to cash in on what's left of his fame over there before people forget the world cup.

I don't disagree with any of that.

However, 4 year deal not that long ago, Martinez said himself the other day that he'd be here until the next World Cup (as much as his words mean).

Funny how Joel's good performances and cleans sheets coincide with Stones coming back and being able to play Coleman, Stones, Jag and Baines across the back every week.
It's not all the reason but that consistency is something Howard didn't have in the games he's slated for

The defense has nothing to do with the sheer amount of individual mistakes Howard made all season.

And even in the first few games under the settled back 4 there was a few ropey moments

I personally don't think Howard's leaving anytime soon. This whole farce just shows that no matter how well he plays or how poor Howard plays he won't get a place.

i hope this is a case of martinez doing what he does best and just talking complete bollix.
i think robles kept his place for wigan when he got in due to el-habsi getting injured.
