Leighton Baines

Baines and Coleman need a winger on each side to push the play wider. Having Naismith and Barkley on at the same time narrows the play horrifically.

I think, and I know it will sound like i'm being pedantic here, that they need natural "wide players" rather than wingers.

What I mean is that Baines, not blessed with pace needs someone who is going to seek him out and give him the ball, dare i say someone like Pienaar.

Coleman on the other hand i would say works better with a Mirrallas type - someone who will look to drift in and therefore leaving acres for Coleman to exploit.

I think on the right we need a winger and I think we have that covered with Kev and McGeady, but its on the left that we are crying out for a more subtle and deft player to get the best out of Baines.

"Winger" makes me always think of players who look to get to the by-line every time they get the ball which I think would be bad tactically for both Coleman and Baines

I actually think Mirallas is better out on the left wing because he is so dangerous cutting inside on his right foot.

If Man U or other club came in with an offer of 20/25 mill for Baines I would say sell. We have Oveido and Garbutt who are much younger and competent, the money could be used then on a say a GK, CB, or plameker.

Never in a million years would we get more than 15 mil for him now unfortunately

I know I'm not a manager but I don't think selling one of our best players is a good idea.

Depends, but there are times as in this perhaps for a player to be moved on to generate funds to get players for positions where there is no adequate cover. IN the case of LB we have Oveido and Garbutt both younger than Baines, therefore better prospects for the future given the age of Baines.

I am not advocating the sale of Baines, the Original post was just to gauge feeling on this.

In a heartbeat. Dont think hes been anything special for 2 seasons now

Really? Really though? Is that a real thing that you think or are you just being a bit Venn Diagram?

No one can say he was impressive last year, and this year his stats are good and he had a good patch earlier on but again hes been subdued.

Wouldnt sell him for anything less than 15 mil, but anything over id take
