Entertaining to see how fickle most fans are. People were feeling pretty positive after City and West Ham. We had started playing more direct like people wanted. Things are changing. Slowly yes, but it's never a quick turn-around when you're going through a bad spell.
Everyone can see how hard it is to break down a Pulis team. It wasn't like we weren't totally dominating the game.

At the end of the day, if Miralas had scored that pen then we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. We'd all have a positive attitude and be talking about how we're turning things around. That 'no' percentage would be closer to 75%; yet it wasn't Bobby who missed that pen was it.
Still, we all watched 90 minutes of our team keep 80% possession (or so) and take a bunch of wild long shots because we are clueless and completely disorganised up front.

Nobody makes a run, nobody really ever wants the ball, seems the ball can only be played to those who are heavily marked, oh wait.... they are all heavily marked because none of you have moved.

The problem is that infamous plan B. Another winnable game goes by and people still sit there saying it is fine. I remember Newcastle thought they were too big to go down. We wil be fine they said. They then put Shearer in charge but it was too late.

Wait until 3 games to go when we are bottom four then you scream for a new manager........

Sure as eggs are eggs that'll happen.

The failed plotters won't go away though. Their mission is to cause instability. They'll keep on and on until it's apparent it isnt happening this season. Then they'll go away and lick their wounds and start again at the first sign of trouble if it comes next season.

What a ****ing pointless existence.

nail - head there davek, it ISN'T happening on or off the the field

Players out of form.
Players injured.
No balance.
Player errors.
Decisions.

Then last night we had a bit of luck with the penalty. We missed it.

Could've changed our season.

Now we've got to perform a mild miracle.

We lose to palace... He's struggling to keep his job IMO.

Serious question

Take out the bottom three, Could you see any other manager in the league doing worse with this squad of players

You have to say that certain players arent doing the business right now. I think he needs to somehow win back that dressing room and get the right players firing again.

He is making some baffling decisions though- Besic coming off last night was just crazy.

Martine cannot be blamed for player after player not beating the first man on a cross, it was embarrassing that we couldnt put a ball into the box.

Nah.

Not one bit. It'd need to be a lot worse than that for it to be considered.

I've always maintained that what happens to those below us will be more pertinent to any Martinez dismissal.

Leicester, Hull and QPR look increasingly done and dusted to me.

We can go the next three awkward games with barely a point from them and we'd struggle to find ourselves below 13th or 14th.

Our owners ultimate remit is PL safety...anything else is a bonus that keeps fans off their backs.

Let us get one thing straight, the reason that we are crap on corners is according to Osman's new book, we do not practice them. Moyes covered every aspect of football, martinez just does the ball retention methods and thinks corners arent that important.

I will buy ossies book just to check that part - i may be wrong.

A strong manager wouldn't have lost the players in the first place Mick (If that's the case like)

My view on things is all over the gaff to be honest

On one hand I think he needs to go a the results are not coming and we have looked poor for large spells of the season

On the other hand there was defo an improvement in performance against West Ham x2 and City, We attacked at pace and looked back to something like the Everton we seen last season, West Brom came for a point last night and shock horror Everton failed to break down a defensive unit

I think the Palace game will give us a bigger clue to how we will perform in the second half of the season

If he became manager, he should make the outfield players wear those things that measure "effort" - like the amount of perspiration, the number of yards run etc and create a scoring system based on those stats.

The player with the lowest score is put inside this heavy bag....

Is my media viewer not playing that video correctly, or was it actually recorded with a 2 FPS camera?

Baines is 30 years old and has been playing football for over 15 years, Are we suggesting he's forgotten how to beat the first man because he's not practising corners in training

Right I play football- Sunday league standard nothing more. I can clear the first man on a corner- my nephew who is 11 can get it over the first man on a corner. To say we dont practice corners and thats why we are bad at them maybe why we dont score many from a corner but the ball into the box which for me is a standard requirement for a professional footballer is down to the players ineptitude rather than the managers.

The most sensible post you'ver ever made. I agree with all apart from the first bit- yes a strong manager wouldnt lose the dressing room to a point but if you have a disgruntled older player say for example Distin who has been at the club for a few years and may carry a certain amount of clout within the players it must be very hard to curb that influence.

We need some new faces this Window- a new signing can be a breath of fresh air on and off the pitch.
