An affectation by wannabe aristocrats or the ultimate method for displaying and serving your chosen malt?
Does it make any difference to the flavour? Anyone got any particularly splendid examples?

I'd tend to agree mate, but I've never tried it, was wondering whether there's any point. Best I've got is an arl Jura hip flask! I've got some nice glass ware though.

I don't bother, the bottles are nice looking enough in most cases and I particularly like heavily peated Islay malt which is better kept in coloured glass as the peat degrades in sunlight. Apparently.

If you want to drink whiskey you should give Irish whiskey a try. Black Bush is very smooth, for Irish whiskey. John Powers if you like your whiskey with an edge. Jameson or Grants isn' t bad. If you want to splash out try Middleton's. I can recommend Tyconnell.

Quite like a drop of Irish whiskey myself. Tends to be smoother, creamier but not usually the same depth of flavour. Makes a nice change though. Been meaning to try that Connemara at some point. Like the ten year old Bushmills, too.

Teeling is a lovely Irish whiskey, got a rrum cask finish. Tricky one to find though.
