So we only loaned part of him, come on Bill I know things are tight but you can't go out getting players who's left leg is owned by someone else your just going to confuse the kidHenen walked out on Anderlect, so has no club.
But still part-owned by a company - THIS IS NOT ALLOWED IN ENGLAND
Olmpiacos take him (the the part not owned by 3rd paty) for free
We take him on loan with Loan fee.
We then pay them the £1.5 million fee
They then pay the £1.5 million to his "Owners"
Is Neil being a racist again?
Doing my best @bizzaro ...
Some players do not belong to the clubs they play for, but to other investors or agents. Is this allowed with financial fair play?
This is called third-party ownership and is currently allowed according to FIFA regulations. However, within UEFA's financial fair play regulations clubs are required to disclose information on third-party ownership arrangements and, in addition, any income arising from these arrangements is delayed until the player is sold.
UEFA has asked FIFA to prohibit this worldwide. Should FIFA not take the appropriate steps, UEFA would be ready to implement its own regulations to ban third-party ownership arrangements at least for UEFA competitions.

I honestly think we got gazumped in the deal and we had to save face with a loan
Exactly, at least if he turns out to be crap we can just send him off to GreeceThat's the simplest explanation. While we where haggling olypiakus stepped in, we didn't want to loose him and the player didn't want to go. We agree to pay olypiakus more money in a year if we decide to keep him.

What's in it for Olympiacos? Wait a minute, did we just accept a gift, from a bunch of Greeks?

Jesus, David Henen is a big lad, he'll make an excellent target man so long as he stays away from fire!
I think youre probably right but we either have the influence and power to simply subject our will or we duck and dive.Having read about it I think it's more the case of the club penny pinching because Anderlect wanted too much money from our point of view. Henen had his heart set on Everton so we've basically had him sign for Olympiakas on the proviso he basically never plays for them and comes here permanently next summer. In someways it's reassuring the club are so savvy and aware the words Premier League make clubs across the world see pound symbols but you have to wonder if we're not pishing off clubs who we might need to deal with in the future. I'm convinced this is the reason the Tom Cleverley deal didn't happen - relations with Man Utd still sour after the Fellaini saga, not as if Cleverley didn't want to come or we couldn't afford him
