With the current squad something like that, Moutinho can swap with both Pienaar and Arteta if it's needed. Cahill as a second striker and Osman and Fellaini on the bench. Yak or Saha upfront.
 

Arteta definately has to play in the centre.... it also seems a bit pointless putting our record signing on the bench. I still think he can come good. Is moutinho's preferred position on the wing or in the centre? where does he play for lisbon and portugal?
 
Signing Moutinho would create more problems than it would solve. Either he or Arteta would just end up on the wing which would be a waste of either. It's a shame because, if the talk of him being interested in joining us last year was correct, he's probably literally the best player in the world we could realistically sign. Stylistically though he's just not what we need.

Its a problem Moyes would embrace.

I'd rather have a midfield selection headache of quality than a injury ravaged squad where you're putting square pegs inround holes.
 
Moyes likes central players outwide anyway to be honest and Moutinho has played on the right of Sporting diamond before. Not as an out and out winger no but then neither to do Osman, Pienaar and Arteta when they play for us.

They can drift inside when we have the ball. I think It'd work quite well although thinking about it I'd much rather try Arteta and Moutinho alongside eachother so we get the best out of both.
 
The Mout and Arteta must play in the middle, thats for certain, no point buying The Mout and sticking him on the wing, Arteta was wasted on the wing and The Mout would be as well. A right winger as well as The Mout is a must.

But theres way we will sign The Mout, he costs money, something we lack.
 
Lets merge this with the other Moutinho thread, make more pages on the other one! On 164 pages atm...lets get it to 200.
 
We would get absolutely smashed everywhere with Moutinho and Fellaini in the middle.

Mikel and Joao in the middle. I would actually run on the pitch if those 2 were together and hug Kenwright.

I think people were just basing it on what Moyes said regarding he wants to turn Fellaini into a Roy Keane type player.
