why would having a cancer clause in his contract be such a bad thing for Everton to do anyway, if he had a dodgy knee there would be a clause in case it went again. Just cos its cancer should we ignore it out of sympathy, they guy would be on millions a year which we would have to pay to him if he had a relapse. Obviously nobody would want that but we are a business and that makes good business sense to me

I always liked Stubbs, didn't realise so many ppl didn't but for some reason I never knew about the Rooney conspiracy

The club had every right to put the clause in just like Stubbs had every right to freak about it, it's business but it's scummy business. As for all the Rooney stuff, If you really believe Stubbs convinced Rooney to leave and not Ferguson/Stretford/bags of cash, you need to have a lie down. He mightn't have been the best at PR but he was/is a good Evertonian and I wish him well in what ever he decides to do.

I notice quite a few blues have a soft spot for Hibs. Me too. I just wonder why that is? Cant think of too many conncections other than Joe Harper.

Stubbs: yes, please go you belter.

The casualty rate for Moyes' backroom is hilariously high:

Davie Weir
Alan Irvine
Alan Stubbs

On a seperate(ish) note I see Chris Woods has turned up on the USMNT bench. Jesus wept, that feller must have been born holding a four leaf clover.

People won't like this reason, but here it is:

Hibs = Catholic

Yep, aaaaaand Howard concedes his usual terrible near-post goal.
Welcome back, Woodsy

I like them after reading a really good book on their history. They were treated like lepers in Edinburgh when they set up; then, when they finally became top dog in Scottish football, the newly minted Celtic came along and took their best players on a consistent basis.

I think I just feel sorry for them!

I have no idea how he goes from one high profile post to another. WTF is put in the references he gets?

By the 1995-96 season, Woods found himself out of favour at Wednesday as Kevin Pressman was first choice goalkeeper, and had a short loan spell at Reading before moving to the USA to play for Colorado Rapids.
In October 1996, Graeme Souness, now manager at Southampton negotiated his loan from Colorado Rapids as cover for Dave Beasant, with a view to a permanent transfer. This loan deal involved a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Everton, and in his fourth appearance he broke his leg at Blackburn Rovers and returned to the USA to recuperate.

Woods, originally from Swineshead and a former Kirton school pupil, began working with the States at the request of Howard, who he was coaching at Everton

Speaking as a Hibby, is the general feeling that Stubbsie would do a decent job as a manager or not? He never struck me as terribly bright to be honest. Good player for the Celts but that means very little now.

Think he means historically. Things like that trickle down.

By all accounts Norwich fans dislike us. Most of their fans probably don't know why.

hmm, does any one know why?
On the Hibs thing, My dad took me to see Celtic v hibs in Park head in the early 90's, came out a hibs fan. Took particular interest when Fenlon was in charge.

My first knowledge of it was the last tone they got promoted (I think) Delia smith saying something like 'we won't be another team making up numbers like Everton'. I've been told that a couple of times our results have caused them to be relegated. I literally don't care enough to check the validity of that though.
