Reasons to hate Stubbs

1) "Cancer clause" accusations at Everton
2) Advising Rooney to leave whilst having ties to his representatives
3) Baines comments in summer
4) Toeying the ball into the wall everytime Everton had a free kick within 50yards of goal.

Allegedly. (Although the free kick one is definitely true)

After Stubbs left because of the cancer clause insistence of the club/1 or 2 year contract dispute, he re-joined soon after on a one year plus option of a further year contract. What does that tell you? What a joke that Stubbs is a fun figure to hate. A stupid rumour he told Rooney to leave and smuggled him out of training in the boot of his car. That rumour also says Duncan Ferguson was a passenger in the car. Gonna hate him too?

Reasons to like Stubbs.

1) Evertonian
2) Signed on a free transfer, served us well, kept us up, helped get us 4th
3) Done a great job as manager of the reserves
4) Has a scouse accent
5) BEAT cancer.

The cancer clause accusation is not an accusation. It's a fact. Everton admitted they wanted another cancer clause in a potential new contract. Wonder if there was one when Stubbs rejoined? LOL.

And as for the Baines thing. Stubbs was not lying obviously. Baines has never denied Stubbs' comment. The only thing he didn't do was force a move or put in a transfer request. These comments from Baines basically admit it.

"I sat on the fence and saw how the thing played out," Baines says. "From this end, you might get credit for turning someone down that you probably don't deserve. The whole thing in the summer was letting things unfold. I could have signed a contract at any time in the summer and put it all to bed.
"It was a case of letting the business side of it get conducted, knowing you couldn't lose. The perspective was I could only win from this situation.
"I don't want to keep playing that tune of being humble. You just appreciate where you are. It was stressful because I didn't know which way it was going to play out. You just try to conduct yourself in the proper manner as much as you can. There is always that. That is a factor throughout.
"I had the important conversations myself and didn't have someone in there for me feeding back what was happening. I spoke with the manager, I spoke with the chairman and we had private conversations. They kept me in the loop all along. I just let them deal with it and I wanted to be kept informed. I guess you never know if you're doing the right thing or not but at the time, it's not your decision as a player to make those calls."

I dont like him, so him leaving wont bother me. It'd also mean that Roberto could get his own man in to help teach the U21s to play proper boss togger.

why would having a cancer clause in his contract be such a bad thing for Everton to do anyway, if he had a dodgy knee there would be a clause in case it went again. Just cos its cancer should we ignore it out of sympathy, they guy would be on millions a year which we would have to pay to him if he had a relapse. Obviously nobody would want that but we are a business and that makes good business sense to me

I always liked Stubbs, didn't realise so many ppl didn't but for some reason I never knew about the Rooney conspiracy

I remember his sister telling everyone in kirkby he was going to be the next everton manager had every person throwing money onit even people what dont like footy, one of the bettys had to even stop taking bets

I remember him moaning at Dave Prentice for criticising the players for not trying the last five games. He got Prentice to apologise. I am still waitig for my apology from Stubbs for his horrendous performafes those five games. And his constant moaning about our fans while he was a player. Really hope he goes, probably only EFC player i havent really liked

Just rumours. I googled it and all I could find was one rumour that he helped get Rooney into training in the boot of his car. Sounds ridiculous.

"As a fan myself I wanted him to stay, but I know how quickly things change in football. I told him he had to do what was best for himself. And the club got an unbelievable amount of money for him. Whatever anyone says, £27m or whatever was fantastic business and it just goes to show how much debt the club was in that Wayne's transfer fee hasn't wiped the slate clean."
What does Stubbs, Evertonian to the core, think when he sees the "Die Rooney!" graffiti daubed on walls near Goodison Park?
"Well, a lot of fans are sensible about it. He's gone, he's made us a lot of money, let's look forward. But that 'Die Rooney' stuff is unacceptable. My little lad was the mascot at the Man United game the other week, and Wayne patted him on the head. My little lad was made up, and up in the stand he asked me 'why's everyone booing Wayne? I thought you don't boo good players?' And that's right, we should just be in awe of how good Wayne's becoming, and be proud that we nurtured him and that someone that good played for Everton Football Club. I've looked at it from all points of view - as a fan, as a player, as a man in the street - and I can't find any anger towards Wayne from any angle.'
And what, I ask Stubbs, of Rooney's feelings towards Everton. Can love, in football as in life, turn to hate?
"No, deep down he's still a Blue. It never leaves you. If Wayne could go to Goodison and watch a game without any hassle he'd be the first one there. I spoke to him before the derby and said 'where are you going to watch it?' He said, 'probably in my house or the pub'. But I knew he wanted to be there. To be fair, nothing bothers him. He's mentally very tough. He got a lot of stick here and was one of the outstanding players on the pitch."

Find all this abuse Stubbs is getting ridiculous. I read the above linked cancer clause story and it's Ian Ross making the claims. Aren't EFC famous for spin? Wasn't Ian Ross, the Leeds fan, also disliked by a big number of Everton fans? I find Stubbs' comments in the article easy to believe.

Ask him who is agent is!

I think Paul Stretford and Alex Ferguson had the impact on Rooney leaving, not Stubbs. And lets face it, if you were the star of the european championships and then the biggest club in the land wants to buy you, then I don't care who you support, you probably leave.

I know its all rumours as such but I was led to believe that Rooney was close to Stubbs and Stubbs basically told him he would be crazy to turn down Man Utd. Now if that is true then I think Stubbs was out of order. Stubbs was an Everton player basically telling a fellow Everton player to go to Man Utd. Not in the best interests of the club really. If it wasn't for the gentle nudge off Stubbs we might have kept him for at least another season. Wasn't Stubbs also the instigator of the bad spirit in the dressing room against Moyes?
