Player Valuation: £70m
I thought the team today played as well as they have all season. Without really creating any real chances in abundance, they played the game well. Rodwell took the yellow card instead of letting the player through - that shows experience.

Can we disrupt this English back 4? Is there a place for Yobo? I'm afraid it is on the bench, and that's just the harsh fact that he has to face up to.

Gosling, is going to be absolutely ******* awesome, his first touch is so impressive, he just needs to slow the **** down sometimes and take stock, but man has he got the potential.

Rodwell though is the main man for me at the moment, really showing that age has nothing to do with it.

Arteta relishing this free role.

The back 4 are playing very well, even Baines is getting in some quality tackles. Hibbert still lacking positioning, but maybe that is never going to change.

Neville is starting to show some composure and put in another good shift, in another alien position.

Cahill is a legend, for me he is up there with Dixie, with Lawton, Sharpy, Young, Kendall and Ball. and so on....

Howard is the best keeper we have had since Big Nev. Fact.

So who have we got to come in, who never played today?

Yobo
Valente
Osman
Pienaar
Fellaini
Yakubu
Saha
Vaughan
Jo
VDM (?)
Jacobsen
Castillo
Baxter

Plus a few of these other youngsters and whoever we sign in the summer. Maybe we will sell one or two or let one or two go. But it's really good at the moment.

I would go as far as to say this is the best Everton football team we have had comparitively since 1985/86 team. Maybe even better.

I wouldnt say thats the best we played, probably the most professional. Credit to the team and Moyes.

Great point about the quality in the squad that didnt get near the pitch today for various reasons!

I'm saying its the best we have played because it was professional. Yeah creating 10 chances in the first 20 minutes against Bolton is all well and good if you convert them. Today we were patient, we took our chances, we defended well, (couple of chances given to Villa who to be fair should have done more), but we had Tim in goal to pull of the saves.

We made very little mistakes. When we lost the ball, we won it back with ease.

For me that was the best we have played, because of the manner and the opposition.

I think VDM , Castillo, Jacobsen, Jo, Valente and possibly Vic will be gone next season, so we really need to replace these players, hopefully with a bit of quality, but more importantly with decent players.

Excellent first half, lots of composure and we controlled the game. In the second half we sat back a bit to much for my liking but it seemed to work, we hit them on the break well.

I couldn't figure out how we where lined up, was it 4-3-3? Neville seemed to be quite wide but then so did Victor for most of the game. Gosling was playing as an advanced winger aswell which is why Baines stayed back for most of the game. Arteta and Neville where both very central aswell.

Good win anyway.

People are saying that Villa didn't play well, I think it's more a case of us being able to deal with their Wimbledon circa 1987 approach with relative ease (though obviously their pace is still devastating).

May have been a bit different with Barry in midfield, but apart from about 10 minutes in the second half where Villa put us under real pressure I thought we were in control throughout.

It's true that the squad is looking pretty strong, though saying it's the best in nearly 20 years isn't saying too much really is it? :P

Rodwell looks very good. He makes me happy. And makes me get drunk.

Cheers

Yes i couldnt work out our formation. It did at times look like 4-3-3 and i agree PIP did seem to play very wide. It was a joy to watch anyway, we ripped them apart and as you say we sat back a little at 1 point, but they couldnt break us down, excellent team performance.

I hear ya, buddie.
It was a terrific performance today against very good opposition. Let's not forget that Villa have won their last 7 away games.

I agree with you that Gosling is going to be absolutely awesome. I get the same buzz every time he receives the ball that both Francis Jeffers (before greed consumed him) and Rooney created. You know the feeling...

There have already been mentions of teams being after Rodwell and Baxter, lets hope we can keep hold of them!
There future is bright when you look at the young players we have coming through though (y)

I was very impressed with Gosling today. His derby goal will no doubt get all the plaudits but I felt he had a better game today. It was a nice response to the recent situation by Anichebe as well. He showed just what potential he does have when he gets on his game. Do that in the next few games consistently and I'm sure he'll play his way back into Moyes good books.

I agree with Ghost also about the players on the sidelines. When you look at that and the apparent weakness in the squad at the start of the season the young lads have really stepped up and done outstandingly well this year.

Aint it great being a Blue at the moment? :)
