All this talk about Chewi's Irish granny and binge-drinking in Dubai is great and all, but aren't there any ITKs round here who could give us the inside scoop on Gibbo's current condition. He's been touted by Martinez for a late April or Man City game return for the last few months. Wouldn't he be nearing a return to full training soon if this is to be the case? Hopefully there haven't/won't be any major setbacks.
hopefully there won't...but there probably will

How can a professional sportsman ve injured so often.

He needs to somehow chamge his lifestyle or hes no use to us -- for those on rodwells back, he at least can be seen to be trying to Improve his health.....is it the same problem with gibson or varying??
This is a question best posed to Birdman

I'm fairly sure that anterior cruciate ligament injuries aren't caused by any particular lifestyle choices if that's what you're implying?!

In case we're all forgetting, ACL injuries are the most feared among footballers and would in the past have seen players never properly recover. Even now, players with ACL injuries often end up retiring early. Recovery times have come down from the 9-12 months they used to be so that it's now possible to come back in 6 months if you're lucky. Gibbo was injured on October 17th and had surgery on October 24th, so is pushing for that 6 month target which will occur next month. If he's on course to make this target then I'm not sure what people expect from him apart from to be someone else. It's amazing the different reactions from this thread and the Oviedo one. One player gets 100% support and the other is speculatively lambasted time and time again.

Don't you think that might be because Oviedo has been a model pro, waiting for his chance to play, only to cruelly suffer the injury, and we all know he'll take 100% care of himself vs Gibbo who is well known to drink decent amounts (smoke?) and not take great care of himself.

I like Gibbo a lot, think he's great, and I hope he comes back soon as we miss his range of passing and occasional long shot, he'd slot in well next to Mac.

Sigh. More negative speculation from yourself. Smoking, really? No-one here knows how much Gibbo drinks. I doubt it's more than a lot of other players. He's just much more down to earth and gets seen out and about by the odd fan every month or two and folk like yourself act like it's something extraordinary. Gibbo has always been a top pro for us on the field and due to Oviedo not getting much of a chance has contributed a lot more to our performances. Both players have suffered devastating injuries and are both working hard to recover as fast as they can, yet Gibbo has a bunch of nonsense rumours filling his thread. Sad.

Didn't realise I was a constant source of negativity on here like.

And on the second point, people much more in the know than myself have said on a few occasions how much he likes a pint and how he doesn't look after himself. I believe them, I've no reason not to.

You're putting it out that that he smokes and that it's a fact that "he doesn't take care of himself". Ask yourself how could someone who doesn't take care of themselves be looking at recovering from an ACL injury in 6 months. It just doesn't wash.

Yes, like I said Gibbo is spotted having a drink here or there every month or two and you think it's a massive deal and that most other players aren't doing the same or more?

You believe them. Right, like someone will now go on to believe you and this smoking rumour you're spreading based on what?

Honestly not arsed arguing with you lad, I just hope he comes back soon.
