Didn't Gibson get injured for ROI?
Doesn't that mean they pick up all or the majority of his wages (unless we have him insured for internationals)
Reminds me of the time Australia were crying poverty about Cahill and injuries and travel recovery time.

At the end of the day, when its all said and done.... we need a squad, we need a technician in midfield, and as good as Barry has been (and I want him signed in the summer) he will pick up bookings regular and having options for the Starting Eleven will not only add to competition but also not see us so hamstrung when Euro fixtures mix with injuries and suspensions.
I like Gibson, he has vision and ability - and on his game he has the ability to make the team move - and that means playing balls ahead of running players to run onto into space. This one aspect alone makes him indispensible, that we have a growing contingent of ROI players is something the club should be playing on a lot more. Its a short flight, theres plenty of euros to be spent and like most of europe sport and footy especially are a wonderful weekend passtime.

He's made of glass and I doubt he'll play for us again to be honest, can see him being offloaded in the summer, but all credit to him for the impact he made when he first arrived. He earned our respect quickly with his performances.

+1

And I always thought we saw the best of Fellani in Gibson's first half season, as he played a more forward role when Gibbo anchored the midfield.

I dont see why we wouldnt keep him myself. We are painfully short in the middle. Barry has looked very leggy of late defensively and if McCarthy wasnt part cyberman, we'd have to rotate more than we have this season.

Just think we need a player who can play more than 10 games a season without breaking down for months on end.

I'm by no means an expert mate - although your obviously trying to be sarcastic anyways with your remark but no matter, i do have a educational background in biology, i do also have an interest in medical and sports science studies on rehabilitation and on how the body recovers from exercise, and one thing that studies on the subject show is that alcohol intake hinders short and long term recovery and development, its why any active athlete is strongly advised to avoid intake, but i guess the clubs and athletes that spend millions upon millions each year hiring sports scientists, nutritionists etc are just wasting their money.

As for how long person x would recover before person y, i honestly have no idea, it depends on a lot of factors, what i can guarantee is that theirs no way on earth that person y recovers faster given all other conditions are equal
Even if there's a slight difference though, it would be days rather than months. He won't be playing for us this season anyway, so I can't see why people are bothered whether he has a few drinks or not.

That'd be lovely and i hope we bring in somebody who can do just that, but Gibson can be more than useful when fit. It'd be nice if we had options and a competitive squad who can be rotated. Dreamland, i know.

So I was looking up how long Jags and Arteta were out with their acl injuries and I spotted something weird. All 3 were near enough the same age at the time of their injuries.

Arteta 26y 11m
Jagielka 26y 8m
Gibson 26y 11m

Obviously no 2 injuries are created equal, but Arteta was out for nearly 11 months after setbacks and 3 surgeries and Jags was out for nearly 10 months. Both Arteta and Jags have managed to recover and play at the highest level, maybe not at 100%, but they are obviously a good inspiration. Hopefully Gibbo can overcomes the final hurdle without any setbacks.

Well said Darron lid!

Nice to have one of the players posting!

Think gibson is a good player he is injury prone but the most recent one was just unlucky like oviedo's injury would be great with barry hopefully signing in the summer have them with mccarthy

Fibre is an important part to ones diet as it ameliorates constipation. I hope a high fibre diet is part of Gibbo's nutrition plan. In y personal experience, wine is also good.
