McCarthy has really surprised me this season. When we bought him, like many others i was very pessimistic but now he seems like a fantastic buy and a really classy player for us. Him and Barry are fantastic.

Simple question: If he was English, would he be in contention for the England squad? I think he would, ergo, 23-years-old and £13 million = good deal. He also meets the 'homegrown' criteria, I think???

considering the rivals are gerrard, henderson, cleverley and wilshire, that's hardly a compliment

He wen't past the front three today on a few ocassions. He needs to do that more while he's playing next to Barry and we're dominating the game.

Agree. As Furey said his passing is getting better too. 5 a season is enough for the position he plays.
