Leighton Baines

As soon as his transfer approaches certainty, [Poor language removed] him. I care about Everton not Leighton Baines; my love for the latter is merely an extension of the former. Let's get as much money as we possibly can for him, nothing else matters.

Got to agree with that. At the moment he's costing us not just his wages but the continuous devaluation of his transfer value, so if he's going to go let it happen in January. Wait until the summer and we'd have 'lost' £5m at least on the fee. Of course, what we'd be losing is a handful of additional points like those he secured for us single-handedly at West Ham. It's difficult to say whether in the long run £5m or a few extra PL points would be better for the club.

If Baines leaves in January then Oviedo should probably be given a go.

That's unless Martinez just doesn't rate him, obviously. In which case he should be allowed to move on as well.

...we will have a better capacity to assess this 'trade off' when the transfer window actually arrives...it's still about 30 max points away.

If Baines is sold, I think our back 4 will be a thing of the past. I'd fully expect a switch to 3 at the back with alcaraz coming in. One thing I've really been pleased with is RM keeping a back 4 but I do feel it's only a matter of time until he switches to a back 3 long term.

FFS its early November and the panic and doom merchants are out again

"He's deffo off" "Iv'e got a feeling he is going" "Roberto's body language" "what stubbs said"

You people are ridiculous, never happy unless your unhappy, desperate for some bad news so you can moan about it on here.

I just think after what Stubbs said it looks more likely. Why would Stubbs lie about it?

Stubbs told everyone he was getting the managers job in Kirkby and they all threw fortunes on.

One fellers wife threw him out cos he remortgaged the house and put a ton on it.

However, after selling Marouane Fellaini to United and Victor Anichebe to West Brom before the transfer deadline, Martinez has no plans to part with any other members of his squad.

"No, no, no," said Martinez when asked if he needed to sell to buy. "We were at that stage in the summer.

"But once we had that situation when Marouane and Victor Anichebe left, that gave us the opportunity to reinvest and now we are in a position where we need a bit of continuity and time to squeeze our potential as a team.

So, were we sell-to-buy or not?

''I'll give him a few bob''

As far I'm concerned all that counts is points and trophies. The soap opera over money is just Football Manager hypothesising. Baines is the best. Keep Baines.

Rather he stay's for the remainder of his contract and he can just walk on a free than take £15 million in January. We never see the money re-invested into the squad anyway, I'd rather see him play for the next few years. I'd only consider a transfer if it was £25 million plus, don't care about the length of his contract or his age, he's in the top 3 players in the world for his position, if he was a Liverpool player they'd be demanding £50 million.

Just so you know, i'm not moaning. I love Bainesy and can't praise him enough, but under RM he's no longer our one shining star, the team now shine together, it used to be the bale syndrome, give it to Baines on the wing and let him do the rest, now the whole team works together and i honestly don't worry as much if he goes, my only worry is the price we get for him
