Kone

Anyway, back to Kone.

Lukaku didn't manage to score in 70 odd minutes on Saturday and didn't really do much. Kone has had ten minutes more league time for us and people are writing him off.

Just saying.

Lukaku was poor at the weekend and still doesn't look like he has 90 minutes in him. Unplayable when he is on it though. I thought Kone was great last season and still believe he will be important for us this season. just hope it goes in for him soon.

No he is not. I'm sure there are examples of bad footballers playing in good leagues up top as well though. Go easy Bryn. I was just saying its not neccessarily a guarantee of quality.

Titus Bramble looks world class when compared to Yanga-Mbiwa. He was absolute garbage for Newcastle against us and hasn't learnt anything from that experience looking at his performance on Saturday against that shower across the park.

He was a title-winner with miraculous Montpelier. How? He was pretty much an ever-present? How? Maybe he'll come good but as it stands he looks like the worst defender in the prem for a long long time...

Think its hard to judge Kone too harshly so far. his touch, movement, hold up play and link up play are quite good in the short time he has had on the pitch but obviously he has looked shaky in front if goal. However that happens to the best of strikers and I think we will know more about what player we have when he scores his first, gets some confidence back and gets some love from the fans.

I wouldnt be too quick to say he was much better than Lukaku on Sat as he had space to operate in that Lukaku did not get due to Hull pushing more. I think with the space and time Kone had for his two chances Lukaku may well have netted twice.

My new flatmate is half Belgian and half Ivory Coast and a huge footy fan. He prefers Benteke to Lukaku as he is smarter with the ball and has a better touch...but i think its unfair to compare too much at this point. Watched Lukaku also against Wales last week and he was pretty poor...his touch his woeful at times and if I'm going to keep complaining about Naisy for this I have to be fair and say the same about Lukaku. Not good enough yet to be a title challenging and champs league competing top striker which is why Maureen let him go out on loan again.

my flatmate was very enthusiastic about Kones attitude and work rate playing for Ivory Coast but worryingly said he just continually loses composure when one on one with keeper and doesnt score much for them.

It's a confidence thing I'm sure....... The boys not a world beater by any stretch yet he can play.... Once he bags a goal and the fans make him feel loved he will be fine.

I can remember when people said confidence was playing apart in Jelavic.
I just pray he doesn't do a jelavic miss vs Southampton.

Kone needs to break his duck as soon as possible, the longer he goes without a goal the harder it will get and the lower his confidence will be. soldado only scored his first goal from open play for spurs at the weekend and he has played alot more minutes than Kone.

Although 6M for a player about to turn 30 is alot but I just think he'll hit the ground running as the season progresses. Its fairly predictable that we'd be without Lukaku next season so I guess that's when he'll get his chance and a couple of decent seasons in his 30s where he scores about 15 to 20 goals would be quiet alright.

Oxymoron. Either you hit the ground running or you don't.
